Sun Zhao once stated: "Tonifying the kidney is inferior to tonifying the spleen." When the spleen and stomach are strong, dietary intake is normal; once diet is consumed, Ying and Wei (nutritive and defensive qi) are generated; Ying and Wei nourish the bone marrow, thereby replenishing essence and blood. Therefore, *Su Wen* states: "For insufficiency of essence, tonify with qi; for insufficiency of form, tonify with flavor." It is suitable to take Nongpo Jian Wan to warm the middle, direct qi downward, resolve phlegm, and stimulate appetite.
