If the poisoning occurred through drinking wine or eating food, taking this prescription on the fifth day after poisoning is particularly effective, from *Zhao Yanyao Beiji Fang* (Zhao Yanyao's Emergency Formulas).
Cinnabar (Zhusha), Realgar (Xionghuang) (separately ground and processed by water flotation), Centipede with red feet (Chizu Wugong), *Euphorbia lathyris* seed (Xuisui Zi) (each 1 liang), Musk (Shexiang) (1 qian).
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Mix with porridge made from glutinous rice to form pills the size of a cockle. If one feels poisoned, swallow one pill with hot wine; the medicine and the pathogen will be expelled together. For stings from snakes or scorpions, grind the powder with vinegar and apply topically.
Another prescription: Chew black soybeans until they lose their fishy smell, and when alum tastes sweet, it indicates poisoning; this method can also antidote poisonous mushrooms.
Alum powder (Bai Fan) (1 large spoon), Aged tea (La Cha) (1 fen, equal proportion is also acceptable).
Grind the above ingredients together into a powder. Take 2 large spoons, mix with fresh cold water, and take orally in one dose. After about one shichen (two hours), the poison should be vomited out. To verify if it is insect venom, ask the patient to spit into water; if the spit sinks, it is insect venom; if it does not sink, it is not. Furthermore, to identify the owner of the biting insect, burn old drum skin into powder, mix with water, and take one fangcun bi (a measure roughly the size of a square inch). Shortly thereafter, the patient will spontaneously call out the name of the insect's owner; instructing the owner to leave will result in recovery.
First, tie the two ends of the wound tightly with a hemp rope. Then, sprinkle fine powder of Angelica dahurica (Xiang Baizhi) onto the affected area; using more is better. Simultaneously, take approximately half a liang mixed with fresh cold water orally, and the toxic qi will dissipate naturally. Another method uses hot wine for mixing. All prescriptions use *Ophiopogon japonicus* root water (Mendong Shui), presumably to first protect Heart Qi.
Musk (Shexiang) (a small amount, ground), Dried Ginger (Gan Jiang), Realgar (Xionghuang) (ground).
Grind the above ingredients in equal proportions into a fine powder. Dip saliva into the powder and apply to the affected area; pain will stop immediately.
Another prescription: Apply moxibustion to the bite site for five or seven moxa cones (zhuang); the pain stops immediately. Both prescriptions are excellent!
Passed down by Li Degong: Crush fresh *Polygala tenuifolia* root (Yuanzhi), decoct with wine, and drink. Apply the dregs to the wound. If fresh ones are unavailable, dried ones are also acceptable.
Even if the patient appears dead but still has faint breath, administering this medicine can revive them; its divine efficacy cannot be described.
Grind *Fritillaria cirrhosa* bulb (Beimu) into powder, mix with wine, and have the patient drink as much as possible. Stop if they cannot drink further. Soon, the liquid will flow out from the wound like water; continue until the liquid is exhausted.
The Xiang Baizhi prescription is recorded here as well. Taoguang has used it repeatedly to save lives with verified results.
