Sun Yingzhong's prescription. Han Wanzhu, son of the Huai Xi Censor Han, personally used it, and two layers of nebulae were cleared in one day.
Placing Centipeda minima (Ebu shicao) into the nostrils leads to immediate recovery.
Another prescription: Wrap a single-grown Drumstick Head Herb (Guchuitoucao) in cotton and insert it into the nostril.
Treats wind-toxin attacking upwards, causing sudden redness and swelling of both eyes, with aching and difficulty opening them; wash immediately upon onset.
Dried Ginger (Ganjiang) (amount as needed, washed clean)
Take the above single herb, cut into pieces, use two qian each time, wrap tightly in thin cotton, steep in boiling water, and wash while hot. If it cools, reheat and continue washing.
Jizhou Gu Family's Ming Shang Gao treats long-standing or recent eye diseases where vision is obscured, including internal and external nebulae, pterygium (Panning), and fleshy growths, accompanied by facial redness and ulceration, dryness, and difficulty opening the eyes.
It treats photophobia, tearing with discharge, blurred vision, frequent seeing of black spots, facial acneiform eruptions (Fengsu), nebulae invading the cornea, and intermittent itching and pain. All are treated. This medicine is incredibly miraculous and cannot be fully described. It also treats mouth ulcers; applying it leads to immediate healing. Ji Zai once compounded it with remarkable results.
White Sand Honey (Baisha Mi) (one jin)
Lead(II) Oxide (Huangdan) (four liang)
Borax (Sha) (separately ground)
Frankincense (Ruxiang) (separately ground)
Green Salt (Qingyan) (separately ground)
Calomel (Qingfen) (separately ground)
Borax (Pengsha) (separately ground)
Well Water from Stone Wells (Shijingquanshui)
Mica (Yunmushi) (each one liang)
Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian) (mustard roots removed)
Cuttlebone (Wuzeiyugu) (each half liang)
Process the above herbs in a clean room, ensuring no chickens, dogs, or women see the process. Slowly fry Lead(II) Oxide (Huangdan) in silver or ceramic vessels until it turns purple. Then add honey and boil until the foam dissipates and the color becomes entirely purple. Next, add three sheng of snow water collected in the twelfth lunar month and boil for more than twenty rolls. Grind the remaining herbs into powder and mix them together for further boiling. Test by dripping the mixture onto a fingernail with a stick; it is ready when it forms a bead that does not spread. Place three layers of thick paper in a bamboo sieve, pour the medicinal liquid through the paper to filter it, and store it in a bottle. Soak the bottle in fresh water for three days and nights to remove "fire toxicity," changing the water daily. Depending on the severity of the eye condition, in the evening, dip a stick in the ointment and apply it to the outer canthus of the eye until a sensation of dryness is felt. For treating internal nebulae, mix flour and water into strips, shape them into rings, place them on the eyes before sleep, and pour the medicinal liquid into the rings. Using this method, effects will be seen within one month.
