Treatment for the prognostic signs of Spleen Wind (Spleen Wind). Inability to speak. Or waving hands up and down. Moxibustion should be applied to the tips of the ten fingers on both hands. Then moxibustion is applied to Ren-26 Shuigou (人中). Then to Du-14 Dazhui (大椎). Then to the meridians in front of both ears. The location is one cun above and below the ear gate (Ear Gate, 耳门). Then to the upper and lower aspects of the joints of the two thumbs. Each site receives seven moxa cones.
Treatment for Spleen Wind. Acupoint: BL-20 Pishu (脾俞). Moxibustion is applied fifty cones on each side of the spine. For everyone, the location of Pishu is not fixed; it corresponds to the disease according to the months of the four seasons, so one should moxa the corresponding Zang acupoints. This is the Spleen point. This method is very excellent.
Treatment for Spleen Wind diseases. Generally referring to eight types of winds causing flaccidity of the legs, hemiplegia, aphonia, and mutism. Acupoint: DU-20 Baihui (百会). Moxibustion of five hundred cones. Then Ben Shen (GB-13 本神). Then Cheng Jiang (CV-24 承浆). Then Feng Fu (DU-16 风府). Then Jian Yu (LI-15 肩髃). Then Xin Shu (BL-15 心俞). Then Shou Wu Li (PC-4 手五里). Then Shou Sui Kong (LI-10 手三里, also known as Hand Marrow Hole). Then the Hand Shaoyang meridian points. Then Zu Wu Li (ST-37 足五里). Then Zu Sui Kong (ST-36 足三里, also known as Foot Marrow Hole). Then the Foot Yangming meridian points. Each point receives five hundred cones.
Treatment for Stroke. Aphonia and inability to speak. Flaccidity and inability to move voluntarily. Also Feng Fei (Wind Paralysis) with inability to speak and involuntary movement of hands and feet. Sudden illness resembling death, inability to speak. Lung Wind Stroke with inability to speak. Acupoint: SI-16 Tianchuang (天窗). First, moxa fifty cones (extinguish the fire). Then move to Baihui and moxa fifty cones until finished. Then Tianchuang again moxa fifty cones. If Baihui is moxa first, the wind pathogen cannot dissipate and attacks the internal Zang organs, leading to a state of closure, resulting in persistent aphonia. Therefore, it is better to moxa Tianchuang first, then Baihui. One session of fifty cones completely dissipates the heat/fire. Then moxa again. Determine based on the severity of the disease. For severe cases, moxa three hundred cones at one site for significant effect. For those whose stroke worsens after taking medicine, apply three cones to any Wind acupoint. All will recover without exception. Divine efficacy, excellent result. Do not doubt. Do not blindly moxa if the pathogen has not reached the heart.
Chao Yuanfang stated: The Spleen meridian connects to the stomach, runs alongside the pharynx, attaches to the root of the tongue, and spreads under the tongue. The Heart's divergent meridian ties to the root of the tongue. When the Heart and Spleen are invaded by Wind pathogens, the tongue becomes stiff, causing aphonia. The Three Yang meridians all connect to the forehead and cheeks, surrounding the mouth. When the Yang meridians are occupied by Wind-Cold pathogens, the tendons become tense. Thus, trismus (lockjaw) occurs, and the mouth cannot open.
Treatment for sudden stroke with trismus and inability to open the mouth. Acupoints: Ji Guan (also called Che Jia/LI-6 in *Qianjin Yi Fang*). Moxa five cones at each point, and speech can be restored. Also, moxa "Sui Nian Zhuang" (moxa cones equal to the patient's age). For facial deviation, moxa on the left and right sides towards the deviated direction.
Treatment for sudden stroke with facial deviation. Use a reed tube five cun long. Insert one end into the ear canal. Seal the four sides with flour paste and honey to prevent air leakage. Place one large soybean at the other end. Burn moxa on the bean and apply seven cones. The disease heals. Moxa the right side for the left lesion, and the left side for the right lesion. This secret method from *Qianjin* is not widely transmitted. It is also used for ear diseases.
Treatment for stroke with facial deviation. Moxa the intersecting pulse on the hand for three cones. Moxa the opposite side: left for right, right for left. The moxa cone should be shaped like a rat droppings, placed horizontally, with fire applied at both ends.
Treatment for facial deviation. Acupoint: Ci Cheng Qi (ST-1 承泣).
Treatment for Wind invading the meridians, causing facial deviation (if untreated for a long time, it may transmit to the Zang organs; do not neglect this). Acupoints: Ting Hui (GB-2 听会), Jia Che (LI-6 颊车), Di Cang (ST-4 地仓).
Recorded empirical formula: In May of the Renwu year of Chongning era, suddenly developed facial deviation. After moxa Ting Hui and three other points, it corrected. Later, numbness and weakness in the right hand and foot. After moxa Baihui and seven points including the hairline, it recovered. In August of the Guiwei year, qi stagnation and phlegm rising caused inability to speak. Took Jin Hu Dan (Golden Tiger Pill) mixed with Ni Fen (Calomel) totaling forty and a half pills. Qi did not flow, phlegm did not descend, medicine exited through the nose. Soul seemed to fly, feeling like falling into a lake, nearly dying in an instant. Moxa Baihui, Feng Chi (GB-20), etc., twelve points on both sides. Qi then flowed freely, vomited/spat out about one bowl of phlegm. Followed by more than ten bowel movements. Lying in bed for over half a month, then recovered. Only then felt mentally clear and refreshed. Whenever feeling mentally confused, moxa Baihui, Feng Chi, etc., always effective immediately. Reflecting on this, I realized moxa has divine and sacred powers, beyond what medicine can achieve. Zheng Si recorded on the 16th day of the 10th month in the Jiashen year.
Treatment for Wind invading meridians. Acupoint: Lie Que (LU-7). Two points that diverge to the Yangming meridian. Moxa three cones. Moxa the opposite side: left for right, right for left.
Treatment for Wind-induced aphonia and mutism. Acupoint: He Gu (LI-4). Moxa three cones at each.
Treatment for inability to speak. Acupoint: Tong Li (HT-5).
Treatment for stroke with facial deviation. Moxa between the corner of the mouth and the horizontal wrinkle. Remove the moxa when feeling intense heat, and it will heal. Do not burn the entire cone, or it will be excessive. If the mouth deviates to the left, moxa the right corner of the mouth; if to the right, moxa the left corner. Also, moxa one cone on the joint of the middle finger.
Treatment for facial deviation. At the size of a wheat grain below the earlobe. Moxa three cones. Moxa the opposite side: left for right, right for left.
Treatment for Cold-Wind pathogens lodging between the Zang organs, stagnating and unable to disperse, causing aphonia and inability to speak. Also for throat obstruction (Hou Bi) with aphonia, all caused by Wind pathogens. Pathogens entering the Zang can be fatal. Acupoint: Baihui (DU-20). Moxa one hundred cones. Needle insert three fen, use tonification method.
Treatment for sudden loss of voice in stroke. Voice choked and unable to emerge. Acupoint: One cun five fen lateral to Da Zhui (DU-14). Also needle below the ear. Retain the needle.
Treatment for Feng Fei with inability to speak and paralysis of limbs. Measure the distance from the inner web space of the little finger to the fingertip. Place this measurement vertically on the umbilicus looking towards the heart. Mark the upper end with cinnabar. Make two such measurements. Connect the upper end of the previous mark to the lower end of the new one. Open the upper end and take the original base. Place the measurement horizontally on the opened upper part, aligning three marks together. If it forms a certain shape. Measure on the left for males, on the right for females. Because the hand distinctions are unclear, mark three places with cinnabar. Simultaneously ignite moxa at these three places. Moxa one hundred cones at each to cure.
Treatment for stroke with trismus and inability to open the jaw. Needle Shui Gou (GV-26) insert four fen. Then needle Jia Che (LI-6). Have the person lie on their side, open the mouth to locate the point. Needle insert four fen. Upon obtaining De Qi, use seduction method.
Treatment for stroke with inability to speak. On the second or fifth thoracic vertebra. Moxa fifty cones.
Treatment for Wind entering the Zang, causing aphonia. Sudden pulling of the mouth and eyes, tightness of the jaw, immobility of the tongue. For facial deviation, moxa along the horizontal wrinkle at the junction of red and white skin at the corner of the mouth. Apply "Sui Nian Zhuang" (age-based moxa cones) to both sides. If not healed after three days, repeat the treatment.
Treatment for stroke with qi stagnation, phlegm rising, mutism, and critical condition. Acupoints: Baihui (DU-20), Feng Chi (GB-20), Da Zhui (DU-14), Jian Jing (GB-21), Qu Chi (LI-11), Jian Shi (PC-5), San Li (ST-36), seven points in total.
Moxa/needle the opposite side: left for right, right for left. Continue until wind pathogens are exhausted and mental clarity is restored. If the disease does not heal despite accurate acupuncture/moxibustion, it may be due to: 1. Missing the acupoint. 2. Hitting the acupoint but incorrect depth. 3. Reaching the correct depth but failing to wait for De Qi before withdrawing. 4. Obtaining De Qi but misunderstanding tonification and seduction methods. Thus, some patients may die suddenly after needling. Reasons include: 1. Ignoring contraindications, e.g., needling the heart leads to death. 2. Not understanding pulse conditions, e.g., in dysentery, if the pulse suddenly becomes large, it indicates death and should not be needled. For all acupuncture and moxibustion, one must first carefully examine the pulse and observe symptoms to know contraindications, distinguish meridians and acupoints, determine distances, climate and breath counts, and precise depths. Then treat the disease appropriately and achieve timely recovery. Do not rely on a single approach or theory.
Treatment for stroke with aphonia. Needle Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) Tian Tu (CV-22) one point. Located one cun below the Adam's apple in the depression. Intersection of Yin Wei Mai. Needle insert five fen. Then needle Shen Men (HT-7) two points of the Hand Shaoyin Meridian. In the depression at the end of the radial styloid process. Needle insert three fen. Then needle Zhi Gou (SJ-6) two points of the Hand Shaoyang Meridian. In the depression between the two bones three cun posterior to the wrist. Needle insert three fen. Then needle Yong Quan (KI-1) two points of the Foot Shaoyang Meridian (Note: Text says Shaoyang, but Yong Quan is Kidney/Jueyin; translation follows text structure but notes standard classification if necessary, here strictly translating text): In the depression of the sole when the foot is flexed and toes curled. Needle insert five fen. If the tongue is tense and mute, needle Ya Men (DU-15) one point. In the depression five fen inside the hairline at the center of the posterior neck. Locate with head extended. Needle insert two fen. If the tongue is flaccid and mute, needle Feng Fu (DU-16) one point. In the depression within the large tendon one cun above the posterior hairline. Needle insert three fen.
