Gongsun (SP4) consists of two acupoints. It belongs to the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian. It is located one cun posterior to the metatarsophalangeal joint on the medial side of the big toe, in the depression. To locate it, have the patient sit with both soles of the feet curled and facing each other. It pairs with Neiguan (PC6).
Neiguan (PC6) consists of two acupoints. It belongs to the Hand-Jueyin Pericardium Meridian. It is located two cun proximal to the wrist crease. To locate it, have the patient sit steadily with the palm facing upward. It represents a unique convergence point.
Linqi (GB41) consists of two acupoints. It belongs to the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian. It is located one cun posterior to the metatarsophalangeal joint between the fourth and fifth toes, in the depression. Another theory states it is one cun five fen distal to Xiaxi (GB43). To locate it, have the patient let the foot hang down. It also pairs with Waiguan (TE5).
Waiguan (TE5) consists of two acupoints. It belongs to the Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian. It is located two cun proximal to the wrist crease, branching off from the Heart Master (Pericardium). To locate it, have the patient sit steadily with the hand pronated (palm down). It represents a unique convergence point.
Houxi (SI3) consists of two acupoints. It belongs to the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian. It is located in the depression posterior to the metacarpophalangeal joint on the ulnar side of the hand. To locate it, have the patient sit steadily with the hand pronated. It pairs with Shenmai (BL62).
Shenmai (BL62) consists of two acupoints. It belongs to the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian. It is located in the depression at the junction of red and white skin below the lateral malleolus. To locate it, have the patient sit with the foot hanging down; lying on the side is also acceptable. It pairs with Houxi (SI3).
Zhaohai (KI6) consists of two acupoints. It belongs to the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian. It is located in the depression at the junction of red and white skin below the medial malleolus. To locate it, have the patient sit steadily with the soles of the feet facing each other. It pairs with Lieque (LU7).
Lieque (LU7) consists of two acupoints. It belongs to the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian. It is located one cun half proximal to the wrist crease, in the gap between tendons and bones where the fingertips meet when the hands are crossed. It pairs with Zhaohai (KI6).

The above method first needles the primary acupoint for the main syndrome, selecting points according to the location of the disease on the left, right, upper, and lower body. One must still follow the meridians, palpate, guide, and remove the pathogen according to the method. If the disease persists, seek the He-Sea points. If it still does not resolve, retain the needle to await the arrival of Qi, allowing the Qi from above and below to connect, so that the patient feels relief from their suffering before withdrawing the needle.
