Wang Shi said. Someone suffered from epilepsy (Xian Ji). Upon onset, they would stiffly collapse to the ground and only recover consciousness after a long time. I surmised this was caused by excessive mental exertion, so I moxa Bai Hui. I also suspected it was due to Phlegm-Jue (Phlegm obstruction causing syncope) leading to collapse, so I moxa Zhong Wan. The condition slightly improved but was not cured at the root. Later, upon reading the *Mai Jue* (Pulse Classic), I learned from Tong Zhen Zi about the importance of nurturing children and carefully protecting Feng Chi. When people came seeking moxibustion for epilepsy, I would always press Feng Chi; patients invariably reported soreness and pain upon pressing. Moxibustion applied there resulted in cure (For pediatric epilepsy with sorrow/depression, moxa this point can be added).
Treating sudden-onset epilepsy. Moxa three zhu (cones) on each nipple. In the hair cluster at the base of the big toe, moa seven zhu. At the proximal phalanx joint of the little toe, moxa seven zhu.
Treating mania, epilepsy, and related disorders, select points from the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian, moxa according to the patient's age (Sui Nian Zhuang).
Treating epilepsy. On the second thoracic vertebra below the back and at the lower end of the coccyx, measure the middle with a rope and break the rope end at one spot; this marks the spinal bone. After marking these three spots, break the rope again into three equal segments and combine them. Like the character "Ge" (个), place one corner at the center and moxa the two lower corners, flanking the spine on both sides. Total five spots, moxa one hundred zhu at each. Use shaved bamboo skin as a marker, which is superior to rope. In the hair cluster on the dorsum of the big toe, moxa seven more zhu. In the raphe below the scrotum, moxa fourteen zhu (two times seven). On the two nipples, moxa three more zhu. On the Du Meridian, moxa thirty zhu. Repeat this process three times. At Tian Chuang, moxa up to three hundred zhu. The moxa cones should be made very small. At Bai Hui, moxa up to three hundred zhu. At the hairline above the ears, moxa five zhu each.
