Treat difficult labor. The fetus presses upward to the heart, causing suffocation or difficulty breathing, as well as Yin hernia (swelling and pain in the genital region). Acupoint: Chongmen (SP12).
Treat transverse presentation (hands or feet emerging first). When various talismans and medicines are ineffective, moxibustion of three cones on the tip of the little toe of the right foot, with cone size like a wheat grain, will result in immediate delivery.
Treat abdominal distension, difficult labor, dry throat, desire for drinking, and umbilical hernia (hernias on both sides of the navel). Acupoint: Zhongfeng (LR5).
Treat difficult labor. If the placenta fails to deliver, and wind pathogen invades from head to toe. Acupoint: Shang Kunlun (BL60).
Treat failure of the placenta to deliver. Acupoint: Qichong (ST30).
Treat fetal pressure rushing to the heart (severe abdominal pain accompanied by palpitations). Acupoint: Qichong (ST30).
Treat irregular physiological processes during childbirth, such as transverse or breech presentation, resulting in a dead fetus retained in the abdomen and failure of the placenta to deliver. Acupoint: Taichong (LR3), needle 8 fen; tonify Baihui (GV20); then tonify Hegu (LI4); subsequently reduce Sanyinjiao (SP6). This can immediately resolve dystocia, with effects as precise as divine intervention.
Treat difficult labor. Needle bilateral Jianjing (GB21) to a depth of 1 cun, using reducing method. Delivery occurs within moments.
Treat fetal pressure forcing against the heart during labor. Have the patient sit upright, held by an assistant supporting the head and waist, slightly reclining. Use a fine needle to puncture Juque (CV14) of the Ren Mai (Conception Vessel). Insert the needle and withdraw immediately. This causes the patient to awaken instantly without confusion or dizziness. Then tonify Hegu (LI4) of the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian twice, followed by reducing Sanyinjiao (SP6) of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian twice. The effect is immediate. Verification: If the fetus's hand grasps the heart, needle marks appear on the palm after birth; if the fetal vertex presses the maternal heart, needle marks appear on the Renzhong (GV26) if facing forward, or on the occiput if facing backward.
Treat postpartum residual ailments, as well as inability to eat, moving gas (Ben Tun) attacking up and down, abdominal fullness due to food stagnation, chest and hypochondriac fullness, and severe cardiac pain (from *Zisheng Jing*). Acupoint: Qimen (LR14).
Treat generalized body pain in women after childbirth. Needle Bailao (EX-B1). Needle wherever there is pain, avoiding bones, tendons, and contraindicated points. It is also stated that moxibustion should not be performed within one hundred days postpartum.
Treat postpartum urinary retention, abdominal distension like a drum, and unconscious confusion. This is caused by cold qi accumulating internally before childbirth, leading to dysfunction of the bladder during delivery (from *Weishi Fang*). Fill the产妇's navel completely with salt, level with the skin. Take over ten stalks of white onion, peel off the coarse skin, bundle them, and cut into slices one finger-thick. Place the onion slice on the salt. Apply a large moxa cone, sized like the onion slice, and ignite it. When heat is felt penetrating directly into the abdomen, urination will occur immediately. The miraculous effect cannot be fully described.
Treat postpartum lochia continuing indefinitely, with cold pain around the navel. Acupoint: Yinjiao (RN7).
Treat uterine prolapse after childbirth. Moxibustion at the horizontal crease below the navel for fourteen cones. Another method states that for prolapse due to childbirth, moxibustion at the navel itself, with the number of cones corresponding to the patient's age.
Treat Qi and Blood deficiency in women after childbirth. Moxibustion from one cun to four cun below the navel, for one hundred cones, with cone size like a wheat grain.
Treat sudden exposure to wind pathogen in women before or after childbirth, causing heavy dizziness and headache, as well as wind-type headache. Acupoint: Xinhui (GV22), moxibustion seven cones. In cases of true headache, the pain penetrates upward through Fengfu (GV16) into the Niwang Palace (brain), which cannot be cured by medicine. Death occurs in the morning if onset is in the evening, and in the evening if onset is in the morning. This is because the head is the root of the human body; when the root Qi is severed, life ends.
Treat postpartum blood syncope, loss of consciousness. Acupoints: ZhiGou (TE6), Sanli (ST36), Sanyinjiao (SP6).
Treat cold extremities and reversal after miscarriage. Needle Jianjing (GB21) for immediate recovery; moxibustion is superior to needling, apply seven cones.
