Wang Shi in *Zisheng Jing* states: When patients come seeking medicine for red and white leukorrhea, administer Zhenling Dan. Zhenling Dan promotes blood circulation and warms the middle jiao, hence its miraculous effect. It is recorded here due to its efficacy, but it must not be taken by pregnant women. Moxibustion on the Daimai acupoint is even more extraordinary than this pill. A woman suffered from red and white leukorrhea. Lin Shi obtained my acupuncture and moxibustion classic. Initially, he moxibusted Qihai without effect. The next day, he moxibusted Daimai. A spirit possessed the patient, saying, "Moxibustion yesterday was good, but it did not reach me. Today it reached me, so I am leaving now. You may set up wine and food to sacrifice to me." The family sacrificed as instructed, and the illness immediately resolved. This is a true event. I initially found it strange, then recalled the case of Jin Jinggong’s disease in the Gaohuang area, where two spirits existed. Because the patient was severely deficient and consumptive, the spirits took residence in the emptiness. Is there also a spirit in this woman's illness? Perhaps due to mental overexertion causing deficiency, allowing the spirit to reside there. Once moxibustion reaches the correct acupoint, the spirit must leave; sacrifice is not strictly necessary. Since then, whenever someone seeks moxibustion, I treat them. Pressing this acupoint invariably causes soreness and pain. I know this is the correct point. Moxibustion on it leads to recovery. The acupoint is located one cun and eight fen below the costal margin at the flanks. Patients with this condition should undergo moxibustion promptly. Many women die from this disease; do not neglect it. Adding moxibustion on Baihui (GV 20) is especially beneficial. This disease is often caused by mental overexertion.
