Shao Yin Jun Huo (Ministerial Fire) governs the Si Tian (Heavenly Qi), Yang Ming Zao Jin (Dryness Metal) governs the Zai Quan (Earthly Qi), and the central Yun (Movement) is Tai Yu Shui Yun (Excessive Water Movement). The year's water is excessive, and its qi transformation operates ahead of the natural timing. The water movement approaches Zi (Rat).

This is referred to as: Its zang organ is the Kidney (Shen), it governs the two yin orifices (anterior and posterior), it nourishes the bone marrow, and its disease manifests as Jue Ni (Cold Reversal/Extremity Cold). This is the transformation of the annual Yun. The qi of heaven and earth: above appears Shao Yin, the left interstitial qi is Tai Yin, and the right interstitial qi is Jue Yin. Therefore, the qi distributed by Heavenly Governance is bright; below appears Yang Ming, the left interstitial qi is Tai Yang, and the right interstitial qi is Shao Yang. Therefore, the Earthly Qi is肃 (solemn/restrictive)... [Text fragment]... Cold meets heat, the qi of heaven and earth adds heat to dryness. Clouds rush to the Rain Mansion, Humidity Transformation proceeds, seasonal rains descend. Metal and Fire combine their virtue, corresponding above to Ying Huo (Mars/Fire Star) and Tai Bai (Venus/Metal Star). The grains are red (Dan). If pathogenic factors invade and contend in the middle, the people suffer from... [Text fragment] swelling in the upper body. For Fire is the Heavenly Qi... Ji Chong (shell-bearing insects) are nurtured, which is suitable for the year's produce. Mao Chong (hairy insects) decline, Yu Chong (feathered insects) do not reproduce, due to Earthly Qi restraining them. Dryness and Heat add together, Heavenly Qi is full, Earthly Qi is deficient. There is Ping Shui (Balanced Water) in the year, not taking the source of transformation. Grain of Qi... [Text fragment] to ward off empty pathogens. The taste should be... [Text fragment].

Before the midpoint of the year, Heavenly Qi is governed by Shao Yin. Shao Yin has Ben Biao (Root and Mark) transformations, and its response to cold and heat is balanced.
After the midpoint of the year, Earthly Qi is governed by Yang Ming. Yang Ming transforms via its Zhong Qi (Central Qi), and its response is half warm and half dry. When it arrives at its proper time, it is peaceful; when not... [Text fragment].

The First Qi period begins from the start of Yin hour on Da Han (Major Cold) day of Yi Hai year until the start of Zi hour on Chun Fen (Spring Equinox) day of this year, lasting 60 days and 87.5 ke. The Host Position is Tai Jiao Wood. Guest... [Text fragment] Dryness... Pain... Grain... Correct... Distribute... It is appropriate to treat the Guest of Jue Yin with Pungent (Xin) to tonify, Sour (Suan) to drain, and Sweet (Gan) to relax. Consume Dan-colored annual grains and Dao (rice) interstitial grains, so Wind will not become a pathogen.

The Third Qi period begins from the start of Hai hour on Xiao Man (Grain Full) day until the start of You hour on Da Shu (Great Heat) day, lasting over 60 days. The Host Position is Shao Zheng Fire. The Guest Qi is Shao Yin Fire, with Central Water Movement visible. Fire occupies the Fire position, separated by Annual Water. Heavenly Governance distributes, Great Fire moves, myriad species flourish and appear fresh. Cold Qi arrives at times, people suffer from Qi Jue and Heart Pain, alternating cold and heat, coughing, wheezing, and red eyes. It is appropriate to treat the Guest of Shao Yin with Salty (Xian) to tonify, Sweet (Gan) to drain, and Sour (Suan) to gather. Consume Dan-colored annual grains and Dou (beans) interstitial grains, so Heat will not become a pathogen.

The Fourth Qi period begins from the exact moment of You hour on Da Shu (Great Heat) day until the exact moment of Wei hour on Qiu Fen (Autumn Equinox) day, lasting over 60 days. The Host Position is Tai Gong Earth. The Guest Qi is Tai Yin Earth, with Central Water Movement visible. Earth occupies its position, humid heat arrives, heavy rains occur frequently, cold and heat alternate. People suffer from cold and heat, dry throat, jaundice, rhinorrhea, epistaxis, and fluid retention disorders. It is appropriate to treat the Guest of Tai Yin with Sweet (Gan) to tonify, Bitter (Ku) to drain, and Sweet (Gan) to relax. Consume white annual grains and Ma (hemp/flax) interstitial grains, so Dampness will not become a pathogen.

The Fifth Qi period begins from the start of Shen hour on Qiu Fen (Autumn Equinox) day until the start of Wu hour on Xiao Xue (Minor Snow) day, lasting over 60 days. The Host Position is Shao Shang Metal. The Guest Qi is Shao Yang Fire, with Central Water Movement visible. Feared Fire descends, summer heat returns, Yang Qi transforms, myriad things grow, lengthen, and flourish, and people become healthy. Their disease is Wen Bing (Warm Disease). Annual Water restrains it, so the disease becomes mild. It is appropriate to treat the Guest of Shao Yang with Salty (Xian) to tonify, Sweet (Gan) to drain, and Salty (Xian)... [Text fragment]. Consume white annual grains and Dou (beans) interstitial grains, so Fire will not become a pathogen.

The Final Qi period begins from the exact moment of Wu hour on Xiao Xue (Minor Snow) day until the exact moment of Chen hour on Da Han (Major Cold) day, lasting over 60 days. The Host Position is Tai Yu Water. The Guest Qi is Yang Ming Metal, with Central Water Movement visible. Water occupies its position, harmonized by Metal, Dryness Command proceeds, residual fire is blocked internally, swelling occurs in the upper body with coughing and wheezing, severe cases involve hematemesis or epistaxis. Cold Qi rises frequently, causing fog... [Text fragment] opacity. Diseases arise in the skin and interstices, settle internally in the hypochondrium, connect downward to the lower abdomen, and cause interior Cold Middle. The Earth Qi is about to change. It is appropriate to treat the Guest of Yang Ming with Sour (Suan) to tonify, Pungent (Xin) to drain, and Bitter (Ku) to drain. Consume white annual grains and Shu (millet) interstitial grains, so Dryness will not become a pathogen.

In this year, the balance of Water Qi is due to the Sui Hui (Year Assembly) executing the command. If pathogens strike them, the people have lingering diseases. As the Classics say, those who execute the command in the middle, their disease is slow and persistent.
