As for chronic hemorrhoids (Jiu Zhi), it arises from the long-term accumulation of wind-heat and toxic pathogens in the internal organs, which flow into and stagnate in the Large Intestine (Da Chang), thereby forming this disease. Furthermore, when accompanied by coldness and exhaustion of the lower origin (Xia Yuan), labor and injury to the Kidney (Shen), disharmony of Qi and Blood (Qi Xue), and obstruction of the Triple Burner (San Jiao), heat-toxins flow and stagnate, contending with blood and entering the Large Intestine. Consequently, this causes hematochezia (lower bleeding), swelling and itching around the anus, or the formation of sores.
