The Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian: Heart Qi connects to the tongue. The Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian: Spleen Qi connects to the mouth. If the Zang-Fu organs are obstructed and stagnant, and the Qi of Rushi (Stone Drugs) cannot be disseminated.
Huanglian San (Coptis Powder), from *Shenghui Fang* (Prescriptions from the Holy Wisdom Bureau), treats mouth and tongue sores caused by the activation of Rushi (Stone Drugs), along with throat discomfort.
Ingredients: Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, remove stamens), Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix, remove heart), Chuan Shengma (Bupleuri Radix), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, sliced, each 1 liang), Daqing (Isatidis Folium or Indigo Naturalis), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, raw, sliced, each 1 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Coarsely crush and sieve the above ingredients. Take 5 qian per dose, add 1.5 zhan of water, decoct until 1 zhan remains, strain, and take warm.
Shengma San (Bupleurum Powder), from *Shenghui Fang*, treats restlessness and stifling sensation in the heart, stiffness and tension of the four limbs, and mouth and tongue sores caused by the activation of Rushi (Stone Drugs).
Ingredients: Chuan Shengma (Bupleuri Radix, 2 liang), Wumei Rou (Fructus Mume, 10 pieces, lightly stir-fried), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex), Xingren (Pruni Semen, soaked in water, remove skin and sharp ends, use double kernels, lightly stir-fried with bran until slightly yellow), Zhizi Ren (Gardeniae Semen), Zhuye (Bambusae Folium).
Preparation and Administration: Coarsely crush and sieve the above ingredients. Take 5 qian per dose, add 1.5 zhan of water, decoct until 1 zhan remains, strain, and take warm.
Huangbai San (Phellodendron Powder), from *Shenghui Fang*, treats mouth and tongue sores, headache, mental restlessness, dry retching, and aversion to food caused by the activation of Rushi (Stone Drugs).
Ingredients: Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, sliced), Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu, powdered, each 3 liang), Chuan Shengma (Bupleuri Radix), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, raw, sliced, each 1 liang), Niubangzi (Arctii Fructus, half liang, lightly stir-fried), Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix, remove heart and baked).
Preparation and Administration: Coarsely crush and sieve the above ingredients. Take 5 qian per dose, add 1.5 zhan of water, decoct until 1 zhan remains, strain, and take warm.
Daqing San (Isatis Powder), from *Shenghui Fang*, treats body redness and mental agitation, rotting sores on the mouth and tongue, a burning sensation inside and out, pain preventing eating, caused by the activation of Rushi (Stone Drugs).
Ingredients: Daqing (Isatidis Folium or Indigo Naturalis), Zhizi Ren (Gardeniae Semen), Chuan Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, sliced, ground, and stir-fried), Chuan Shengma (Bupleuri Radix, each 1 liang), Qiangweigen (Rosae Rugosae Radix, 1 liang, sliced), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, half liang, raw, sliced).
Preparation and Administration: Coarsely crush and sieve the above ingredients. Take 5 qian per dose, add 1.5 zhan of water, decoct until 1 zhan remains, strain, and take warm.
Xiangchi Tang (Fermented Soybean Decoction), from *Shengji Zonglu* (General Records of the Imperial Medical Bureau), treats rotting sores in the mouth, stiff and dry tongue, and inability to taste food due to the activation of Rushi (Stone Drugs). This is attributed to insufficient dietary intake and deficiency of Guqi (Grain Qi).
Ingredients: Chi (Soytae Fermentatum, half jin), Weirui (Polygonati Odorati Rhizoma), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-roasted, sliced, each half liang), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, remove coarse bark, honey-roasted, sliced), Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix, remove heart and baked, each 1 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Coarsely crush and sieve the above ingredients. Take 5 qian per dose, add 1.5 zhan of water, decoct until 1 zhan remains, strain, and take warm.
Qianhu Tang (Peucedani Radix Decoction), from *Shengji Zonglu*, treats rotting sores in the mouth caused by Rushi (Stone Drugs), painful oppression in the head and neck, fullness and distension in the chest and hypochondrium with alternating cold and heat, cold extremities, or dry retching and aversion to food.
Ingredients: Qianhu (Peucedani Radix, remove rhizome head), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, sliced and stir-fried), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, remove black heart), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-roasted, sliced, each 2 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Coarsely crush and sieve the above ingredients. Take 5 qian per dose, add 1.5 zhan of water, decoct until 1 zhan remains, strain, and take warm.
Another Prescription (from *Shenghui Fang*), treats mouth and tongue sores caused by the activation of Rushi (Stone Drugs) due to improper diet, where toxic heat attacks upward.
Ingredients: Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, remove stamens), Chuan Shengma (Bupleuri Radix, each 2 liang), Longdan (Gentianae Radix, 3 liang, remove rhizome head), Ku Zhuye (Bitter Bambusae Folium, one handful).
Preparation and Administration: Finely slice the above ingredients. Add 3 da zhan of water, decoct until 1.5 zhan remains, strain, and take warm.
Shengma San (Bupleurum Powder), from *Shengji Zonglu*, treats mouth and tongue sores and swelling and pain extending to the cheeks caused by the activation of Rushi (Stone Drugs).
Ingredients: Shengma (Bupleuri Radix), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, remove forked root), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-roasted, each half liang), Jichangcao (Commelinae Herba, 3 fen), Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Daqing (Isatidis Folium or Indigo Naturalis, each 1 fen).
Preparation and Administration: Pound and sieve the above ingredients into powder. Take 2 qianbi per dose, mixed with warm water, at any time.
Qianshuang San (Lead Frost Powder), from *Shengji Zonglu*, treats mouth and tongue sores caused by the activation of Rushi (Stone Drugs).
Ingredients: Qianshuang (Plumbum Nitratum, ground), Baifan (Alumen, calcined, each 1 liang), Shexiang (Moschus, ground, 1 qian), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, remove coarse bark, honey-roasted, 1 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Pound and grind the above ingredients into powder. Use half a qian, sprinkle onto the sores.
Huangbai Tang (Phellodendron Decoction), from *Shengji Zonglu*, treats mouth sores caused by Rushi (Stone Drugs).
Ingredients: Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, remove coarse bark, honey-roasted, 2 liang), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, remove stamens), Shengma (Bupleuri Radix, each 1 liang), Longdancao (Gentianae Radix, 1.5 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Coarsely crush and sieve the above ingredients. Take 5 qian per dose, add 1.5 zhan of water, decoct until 1 zhan remains, strain, and take warm.
Fuping Wan (Duckweed Pill), from *Shenghui Fang*, treats mouth and tongue sores caused by the activation of Rushi (Stone Drugs).
Ingredients: Gan Fupingcao (Lemnae Herba), Shengma (Bupleuri Radix), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex), Qiandan (Minii Arsenias Ruber, stir-fried and ground, each half liang).
Preparation and Administration: Pound and grind the above ingredients into powder. Mix with refined honey to make pills the size of a chicken head. Take one pill per dose, washed down with rice drink.
Zhizi Ren Tang (Gardenia Seed Decoction), from *Shengji Zonglu*, treats body heat and mental restlessness, rotting sores in the mouth, a burning sensation inside and out, and pain preventing eating caused by the activation of Rushi (Stone Drugs).
Ingredients: Zhizi Ren (Gardeniae Semen, 10 pieces), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, remove black heart), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, sliced and stir-fried, each 3 liang), Chi (Soytae Fermentatum, 2 he).
Preparation and Administration: Coarsely crush and sieve the above ingredients. Take 5 qian per dose, add 1.5 zhan of water, decoct until 1 zhan remains, strain, and take warm.
Huangqin Tang (Scutellaria Decoction), from *Shenghui Fang*, treats conditions arising from Rushi (Stone Drugs) where improper diet leads to sores in the mouth.
Ingredients: Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, remove black heart, 3 liang), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum, crushed, 5 liang), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-roasted, sliced), Shengma (Bupleuri Radix, each 2 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Coarsely crush and sieve the above ingredients. Take 5 qian per dose, add 1.5 zhan of water, decoct until 1 zhan remains, strain, and take warm.
Longnao San (Borneol Powder), from *Shengji Zonglu*, treats mouth and tongue sores caused by the activation of Rushi (Stone Drugs).
Ingredients: Qianshuang (Plumbum Nitratum, 1 fen), Longnao (Borneolum Syntheticum, half qian), Huashi (Talcum, 1 fen).
Preparation and Administration: Grind each ingredient separately into fine powder and mix evenly. Use one zi amount, sprinkle onto the sores. Saliva discharge indicates recovery.
Another Prescription (from *Shenghui Fang*)
Ingredients: Qianshuang (Plumbum Nitratum, 1 fen), Xingren (Pruni Semen, half liang, soaked in water, remove skin and sharp ends, use double kernels, grind separately into paste), Nifen (Calomelas, 1 fen).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above ingredients uniformly. Use an amount the size of a chicken head, dissolve slowly in the mouth and swallow the saliva.
