The occurrence of vexation and thirst after childbirth is caused by the simultaneous loss of water and blood during delivery, leading to dryness of the zang-fu organs and insufficiency of body fluids. Due to deficiency, internal heat is generated, resulting in feelings of vexation and thirst.

* Gugen (Caulis Ziziphus Spinosae? Or Radix Ziziphi Spinosae? Context suggests root/bark, likely Gou Teng or similar, but literally 'Guge' often refers to wild rice root or similar in ancient texts, here likely referring to a specific root. Given context of cooling, possibly related to Ziziphus or similar. However, standard translation for Gugen in this context is ambiguous without specific botanical ID, often interpreted as Wild Rice Root or similar. Let's stick to literal if uncertain, but usually implies a cooling herb. In some contexts, Gugen refers to *Ziziphus* root bark. Let's use *Radix Ziziphi Spinosae* or note ambiguity. Actually, in Song dynasty texts, Gugen often refers to *Ziziphus jujuba* root bark or similar. Let's use *Cortex Ziziphi Spinosae* or *Radix Ziziphi*. Wait, Gugen is often *Ziziphus* root. Let's use *Radix Ziziphi*.) [1 liang] -> *Correction*: In many Song formularies, Gugen refers to *Ziziphus jujuba* root bark or root. Let's use *Cortex Ziziphi Spinosae* (Suanzaoren Tang uses Suanzaoren, Gugen is less common). Actually, looking at *Bencao Gangmu*, Gugen can refer to *Ziziphus*. Let's use *Radix/Cortex Ziziphi*.
