When a patient with Cold Damage (Shanghan) reaches the seventh day, according to the disease progression rules, symptoms should slightly improve, as the transmission through the Yin and Yang meridians has concluded. If after the seventh day, symptoms instead worsen, it indicates that the disease is about to enter a subsequent meridian cycle (Zai Jing).
