If the pathogenic factor of Cold Damage (Shanghan) has not been eliminated after nine days or more, it may be because initially only one meridian was affected, thus preventing transmission; or it may have already transmitted through all three Yang meridians but failed to transmit into the Yin meridians.
Qianhu Tang (Antenol Decoction), from *Shenghui Fang*, treats Cold Damage lasting nine days without resolution, characterized by hardness and fullness in the heart and abdomen, body pain, heat inside and outside the body, irritability, vomiting, and restlessness.

Zhang Zhongjing discusses:
Shigao Tang (Gypsum Decoction), treats Cold Damage for eight or nine days, heat in the Sanjiao (Triple Burner), slippery and rapid pulse, mental confusion, high fever, heaviness, and spasms, or merely groaning. Previous purgation failed to relieve the heaviness and spasms because the exterior syndrome was unresolved. Using detoxifying herbs directly would not cure the spasms, while using diaphoretic herbs directly would exacerbate the toxin. This formula uses Sanhuang Tang (Three Yellows Decoction) to save the interior heat and adds herbs to resolve the exterior, hence named Shigao Tang.
Prescription: Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) (each 3 liang), Xiangchi (Fermented Soybean, 1 sheng, wrapped in silk), Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus, 10 pieces, split open), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, 3 liang, remove joints).
Decoction and Administration: The above ingredients are coarsely crushed, added with 10 dou of water, first boil Mahuang alone, reduce by 2 dou, skim off the foam, add other herbs, boil to obtain 3 sheng, strain, and take warm in two doses daily. Mild sweating should be maintained. Spasms and vexation will resolve. Several bowel movements indicate the retreat of the toxin. Mind opens, speech normalizes. Avoid meat and cold water.
Guifu Tang (Cinnamon Twig and Aconite Decoction), treats Cold Damage for eight or nine days, wind-dampness clashing, painful and restless body, inability to turn independently, no vomiting or retching, floating, deficient, and choppy pulse. (Text incomplete here).
Baizhu Fu Zi Tang (Atractylodes Macrocephala and Prepared Aconite Decoction), treats Cold Damage for eight or nine days, wind-dampness clashing, painful and restless body, inability to turn independently, no vomiting or thirst, floating, deficient, and choppy pulse.
