Regarding the Six Qi, their numerical sequence begins from above and ends below. Before the midpoint of the year, following the Great Cold (Dahan) solar term, the Heavenly Qi presides; after the midpoint of the year, following the Great Heat (Dashu) solar term, the Earthly Qi presides.

Shao Yin Jun Huo (Ministerial Fire) governs as the Heavenly Qi, Yang Ming Zao Jin (Dry Metal) resides as the Earthly Qi, and Tai Gong Tu Yun (Central Earth Transport) is seen in the middle. The Earth Transport is excessive, causing the Qi transformation to operate prior to the natural timing. The Qi of Heaven and Earth... [text fragment] The Earthly Qi is solemn and its decree is urgent. The transitional Qi involves the intersection of cold and heat. The Qi of Heaven and Earth combines heat with dryness. Clouds rush to the Rain Mansion, the transformation of dampness proceeds, and timely rains fall. Fire harmonizes with virtue, corresponding above to Mars (Yinghuo) and Venus (Taibai). The grains are red and white. The heat transformation is two, the rain transformation is five, and the dryness transformation is four. This is referred to as the days of proper transformation. Feathered insects and shelled insects are nurtured, which is suitable for the year's produce. Hairy insects suffer depletion, and damp toxins do not arise, restrained by the Earthly Qi. Water, fire, cold, and heat hold sway at the Qi intersection, leading to disease. Heat diseases arise from above, clear/cold diseases arise from below, and cold and heat contend mutually in the middle. The people suffer from cough and wheezing, hematemesis/hematochezia, rhinorrhea and sneezing, red eyes, jue-ni entering the stomach, heart pain, lower back pain, abdominal distension, dry throat, and swelling in the upper body. This is the normal pattern of yearly transformation. One must wait to see whether the Qi arrives or not before diagnosing the disease. In this year, Fire is the Heavenly Qi and Metal is the Earthly Qi; Fire can overcome Metal. The Heavenly Qi is full, and the Earthly Qi is deficient. However, seeing the Central Earth Transport, the Heavenly Qi generates the Transport, and the Transport generates the Earthly Qi.

Before the midpoint of the year, the Heavenly Qi is governed by Shao Yin. The transformation of Shao Yin is fundamentally hot but marked by yin. At this time, the transformation of the root and branch should be half cold and half hot, without any bias... [text fragment] skin... and salty... [text fragment].

After the midpoint of the year, the Earthly Qi is governed by Yang Ming. Its transformation does not follow the root and branch but follows the intermediate Qi of Tai Yin. At that time, dryness and dampness act together, without excessive dominance. Can reverse... [text fragment].

The Earth Transport being excessive is called the Era of Dun Fu (Piled High Earth). Rain and dampness prevail, and Kidney Water suffers evil. The people suffer from abdominal pain, cold extremities with unwillingness of mind, heavy body, and vexation. Severe cases... [text fragment] transformation Qi... and Tai...
