Boil authentic Ejiao (Donkey-hide Gelatin) to treat the copper.

[Method for Driving Away Flies and Mosquitoes]
Use powder of Veratrum nigrum (Lilu). Place it in wine or rice; flies attracted to it will surely die. However, this method does not completely eliminate them. It is better to place willow branch-infused wine outside the room door to lure them away, which is more ingenious.
Another prescription:
Burn powder of Atractylodes macrocephala (Cangzhu) and Veratrum nigrum (Lilu) inside the room to somewhat repel flies. I suggest pasting windows with yellow grass cloth instead, which is more effective.
Yet another prescription:
Dry sawdust, mix with a large amount of Realgar (Xionghuang) and a small amount of Arsenolite (Xinshi), form into incense tubes, and burn.

[Treatment for Flies]
On the day of La Festival in the twelfth lunar month (specifically the third Wu day after Winter Solstice), purchase one piece of pork back fat. Store it in a bowl and hang it on a rear shelf; or hang it above the toilet. Result: no flies. When asked about the reason, the person kept it secret. After persistent pleading, he smiled and said, "This is just a minor trick." Use a slice or two jin (approx. 1kg) of La Festival pork back fat, store in a jar, and hang above the toilet. Tested the following year, it was indeed effective. The principle behind this is likely incomprehensible.

[Method for Repelling Mosquitoes]
On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, take an old frog. Insert a piece of coarse ink into the frog's mouth. Tie the frog with red thread. Use a Luopan (Feng Shui compass) to determine the five cardinal directions. Dig... (text missing/disordered here) ...but do not kill it. If you wish to remove mosquitoes, the next morning wipe the drawn gourd with a fan; subsequent use will be effective. The frog must be alive when taking the ink; if dead, it is less effective.

[Puchu Powder for Repelling Mosquitoes]
Stinkdogwood bark (finely cut), Asafoetida (Ewei), Genkwa flos (Yuanhua), Night-bright sand (Yemingcha, stir-fried), Luo wood (sliced). Coarsely grind and sieve the above five herbs. Slowly roast/smoke them in the room.

[Fumigation for Mosquitoes]
Cyperi Rhizoma (Xiangfuzi), Atractylodes macrocephala (Cangzhu, half jin), Realgar (separately ground), Camphor (separately ground, each half liang). Grind all into fine powder. Mix Realgar and Camphor evenly.

[Heavy Sieve Method for Driving Away Mosquitoes, Sandflies, and Bedbugs]
Atractylodes macrocephala (Cangzhu, one jin), Strychnos nux-vomica (Mubiezi), Realgar (each two and a half liang). Grind into fine powder. Form pills with honey, size of a bullet. Burn one pill under the bed.

[Prescription for Repelling Mosquitoes]
Poem says: Nux-vomica (Mubiezi) and Ligusticum chuanxiong (Chuanxiong) in equal parts; halving the Realgar makes it exquisite. Honey pills the size of soap pods; from night until dawn. In the incense burner, using mild fire... (text missing) ...to remove mosquitoes.

[Treatment for Mosquitoes and Bugs]
In May, collect duckweed (Fuping), dry in shade, and burn for smoke. Additionally, for treating Xiao Ke (Wasting-Thirst syndrome), consume duckweed juice.

Burn dried Muraenogobius (eel-like fish) indoors; mosquitoes turn into water.

[Another Method]
On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, collect duckweed, dry in sun. Combine with Kuliang flower (collected in March) and Night-bright sand (Yemingcha). Grind into powder, form into incense sticks, and burn. All mosquitoes are removed.

[Another Method for Repelling Mosquitoes (Also known as Fuping San)]
Grind duckweed (Fuping) and Notopterygium incisum (Qianghuo) into powder. Adding Atractylodes macrocephala (Cangzhu) and White Dragon Bone (Baijiaoxiang) also works. Burn like incense; effective.

[Next Day Hanging Curtain Without Mosquitoes - Incantation for Repelling Mosquitoes]
Heaven and Earth are too clear, Sun and Moon are too bright. Yin and Yang are in great harmony. Act swiftly according to the law. Recite facing Taiyin (the Moon).

[Three Poems for Driving Away Mosquitoes]
Night-bright sand and金黄色 sand (Haijinsha), combined with Kuliang flower. At dusk, light one stick; mosquitoes fly to others' homes.
Nux-vomica sprout and incense in equal parts, weigh a little Realgar and incense. At dusk, light one incense stick; sleep peacefully in bed until dawn.
Select active duckweed, Magnolia officinalis (Houpo), live Chuanxiong, Angelica dahurica (Baijiangcan) is strongest. Grind and sieve for incense; dream of Duke of Zhou.

[Prescription for Driving Away Mosquitoes]
Use one dou (approx. 10 liters) of wood shavings, add four liang of Aristolochia debilis (Tianxianteng). Cut, crush, and grind together into powder. Ignite like seal incense; all mosquitoes and sandflies are removed.

[Another Prescription for Repelling Mosquitoes and Various Insects]
Grind Melia azedarach (Kulianzi), Biota orientalis seed (Baizi), and Acorus tatarinowii (Changpu) into powder. Burn slowly; those who smell it will leave.

[Another Prescription]
In May, collect duckweed, dry in shade. Add equal amounts of White Dragon Bone (Baijiaoxiang) and Atractylodes macrocephala (Cangzhu), burn for fumigation. On Shuibi days, and specifically on Nu Star days, make curtains. Even in places with many mosquitoes... (text missing)

[Another Prescription for Treating Mosquitoes]
Duckweed (Fuping), Magnolia officinalis (Houpo), Notopterygium incisum (Qianghuo), Ligusticum chuanxiong (Chuanxiong) (equal parts). Grind into powder, form into incense coils, and burn. Mosquitoes will stay far away.

[Repelling Mosquitoes and Sandflies]
Form pills or powder with Songmi Xiang (Send-Mist Incense) and Notopterygium incisum (Qianghuo). Burn at night.
