Cang'er San (Xanthium Powder) is specifically indicated for hemiplegia. It can be taken for facial paralysis (deviation of the mouth and eyes) and limb numbness.
Basheng Yinzi (Eight Raw Decoction) treats hemiplegia and weakness of the hands and feet. These conditions are caused by irregular diet and lifestyle, failure of Yang Qi to consolidate, and invasion of Wind pathogenic factors. If tonifying agents are administered:
Take Tianxiong (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, 2 liang; this herb is best, if unavailable, replace with Da Fuzi, peeled), Dachuanwu (Aconiti Radix, 2 liang, peeled), Tiannanxing (Arisaematis Rhizoma), Baifuzi (Giraldi's Aconite Root), Tianma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma), and Wutou (Aconiti Radix, all used raw). Place them in a vessel and process over fire until one cup of liquid is obtained; continue processing until three cups of liquid are obtained. Mix the collected liquids together and divide into three doses. Take warm on an empty stomach. One may take three cups per day.
Shujin Wan (Sinew-Relaxing Pill) has the same treatment indications as mentioned above.
