The disease of amnesia (Jianwang) originates from Heart deficiency. Due to the decline and scarcity of Qi and Blood, the Spirit becomes dull and confused, causing the Will to become disordered and prone to forgetting. The Heart is the Official of the Monarch, governing the Shen (Spirit). If the Heart is injured, one tends to forget easily. Amnesia refers to suddenly forgetting things that were previously known. Although it is often said that this syndrome results from excessive worry damaging the Pericardium, leading to an impure dwelling place for the Spirit and frequent forgetting upon encountering events, excessive thinking can also damage the Spleen, causing amnesia. Treatment must simultaneously regulate both the Heart and the Spleen; when the Spirit is concentrated and the Intent is stable, the symptoms will naturally resolve.
Formulas:
