The principles of sweating, vomiting, and purging therapies should be applied universally. Therefore, it is said that one must clearly understand the favorable and unfavorable courses of disease; both direct treatment (Zhengzhi) and contrary treatment (Congzhi) do not go beyond the differentiation of Yin-Yang and Exterior-Interior. Although these principles are generally applicable, when toxic pestilential qi accumulates within, it must also be guided and drained according to its warmth or coolness nature, weighing the severity of the condition, so that toxins can be excreted, making treatment easier. The *Bingyuan* states: Carrying toxic pestilential qi, there is high fever and restlessness; toxin eruption causes abdominal distension and fullness. If untreated: in Spring, contracting clear pathogenic factors affecting the Liver, use Shengma Gegen Tang (Cimicifugae Rhizoma and Puerariae Radix Decoction), Jiemo Tang (Muscle-Releasing Decoction); in Summer, contracting cold pathogenic factors affecting the Heart, use Tiaozhong Tang (Middle-Regulating Decoction), Shegan Tang (Belamcandae Rhizoma Decoction), Banxia Guizhi Gancao Tang (Pinelliae, Cinnamon Twig, and Licorice Decoction); in Autumn, contracting heat pathogenic factors affecting the Lung, use Baihu Jia Cangzhu Tang (White Tiger plus Atractylodis Macrocephalae Decoction); if jaundice develops, use Yinchens Tiaowuling San (Artemisiae Scopariae Regulating Wuling Powder); in Winter, contracting warm pathogenic factors affecting the Kidney, also known as Dongwen (Winter Warmth), use Weirui Tang (Anemarrhenae Decoction). Earth has no fixed form but is named due to Fire; acupoints should be selected according to the affected meridian. This is merely a general overview. For Cold syndromes, Shengsanzi (Holy Mixture Pill), Yinghuowan (Firefly Pill), and Shenmingsan (Divine Clarity Powder) may be selectively used. Shengsanzi contains Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma), Doukou (Amomi Fructus Rotundus), and Liangjiang (Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma); it is only suitable for Cold-Dampness patterns. Do not be confused by claims of universal applicability.
For all Warm Disease cases, acupuncture at fifty-nine specific points is permissible. Additionally, among the six hundred and five acupoints on the body, thirty-six are harmful if moxa-burned, and seventy-nine are disastrous if needled.
