The disease known as "E Mai" (Malignant Veins/Vascular Malformation) presents with sudden protrusion and aggregation of red collateral vessels. The appearance resembles dead earthworms or water accumulated within the vessels. The length varies according to the collateral vessels involved. This condition arises when pathogenic wind enters the collaterals during spring and winter, causing blood stasis and knotting. If left untreated for a long time, the knotted collaterals may transform into fistulas or hard nodules. It is advisable to take Wuxiang Liaoqiao Tang (Five-Aromatic Liaoqiao Decoction) and use bamboo sap for treatment.
Formulas:
Wuxiang Liaoqiao Tang (Five-Aromatic Liaoqiao Decoction), from *Zhouhou Fang* (Handbook of Prescriptions for Emergencies), treats E Mai (Malignant Veins). It is recommended to take this decoction and apply Danshen Gao (Salvia Ointment) externally. Taking Wuxiang Tang and applying Vigna Angularis Powder (Xiaodou, 小豆) leads to recovery.
Muxiang Tang (Aucklandia Decoction), from *Shenghui Fang*, treats swelling and toxicity caused by E Mai (Malignant Veins).
Ingredients: Aucklandiae Radix (Muxiang, 木香), Evodiae Fructus (Wuzhuyu, 吴茱萸 - washed, dried, and slightly fried), Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma, 升麻), Boswelliae Resina (Xunluxiang/Ru Xiang, 薰陆香), Caryophylli Flos (Jitixiang/Dingxiang, 鸡舌香), Realgar (Xionghuang, 雄黄), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, 甘草 - honey-fried), Trionycis Carapax et Plastrum (Biejia, 鳖甲 - vinegar-soaked, roasted, skirt removed).
