The condition known as "Shi Qi Xia Bu Chuang" (Sores in the Lower Part Caused by Seasonal Pathogenic Factors) arises from toxic heat accumulating within the abdomen. The grain qi is weak, while toxic vapors are abundant, causing the "Three Worms" (parasites) to become active and constantly devouring the five zang organs. This often manifests as cold diarrhea and dysentery. Sores appear in the lower part of the body with incessant itching. If sores form inside the lips and the patient desires to wake up frequently (or exhibits restlessness), this indicates that worms are eroding the lower part. In severe cases, the intestines and stomach may rot and damage the five zang organs, leading to death.
Formulas:
Xionghuang San (Realgar Powder) [Source: *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats sores in the lower part caused by Shi Qi. Suitable for oral administration.
- Xionghuang (Realgar): 5 qian, finely ground; another version uses vinegar-fried.
- Qingxiangzi (Seed of Celosia): 3 liang.
- Kushen (Root of Sophora Flavescens): 3 liang, sliced.
- Huanglian (Rhizoma Coptidis): 3 liang, remove roots, lightly stir-fried.
- Xingren (Apricot Seed): 1 qian 5 chen, soaked in water, peel and tip removed, use double-kernel seeds, lightly stir-fried with bran until slightly yellow; another version uses Taoren (Peach Kernel).
Grind all ingredients into a powder. Take 2 qian before meals, mixed with congee broth.
External Application [Source: *Waitai Miyao*]: Grind and sieve the medicine, wrap in cotton like half a date pit, and insert into the lower orifice. Alternatively, take 1 fangcun bi (a measure roughly the size of a square inch) with rice juice, three times a day. Avoid pork, cold water, hot noodles, roasted meat, garlic, etc.
Formula for Toxic Disease Causing Lower Sores [Source: *Zhouhou Fang*]:
Take the juice of Shemei (Herba Pteridis Multifidae), drink 3 he, three times a day. Soak Wumei (Fructus Mume) in water until concentrated, add Yanmi (Cliff Honey), and drink frequently.
Formula for Tianxing Disease Causing Lower Ulcers [Source: *Zhouhou Fang*]:
- Wumei (Fructus Mume): 27 pieces, remove pits.
- Dasuan (Garlic Bulb): 20 cloves.
- Wuchen (House Dust): 0.5 sheng, sifted to fine powder.
Grind and sieve into a powder. Mix with 1 sheng of Kujiu (Vinegar). Boil in a copper vessel until it becomes a paste. Shape into long sticks and insert into the lower orifice.
Formula for Shi Qi Causing Lower Sore Pain [Source: *Shenghui Fang*]:
- Guixin (Cinnamon Twig Bark): 2 liang.
- Lanye (Isatis Leaf): 2 liang.
Grind into powder, divide into three doses. Take one dose mixed with 0.5 jin of raw pig liver (membrane removed, finely chopped). Cook together with five flavors. Take once every morning. Worms resembling hair should be expelled from the lower orifice; recovery occurs after about 1 he.
*Waitai Miyao* variant for Tianxing Disease: Use Guixin and Xiaolan (Indigo Naturalis) each 2 liang, chopped. Boil in 1 dou of water until reduced to 2 sheng. Add 10 liang of pig liver (membrane removed, finely ground) and mix well in the decoction. Warm slightly before use. If toxicity is entirely in the abdomen, consume all. If located in the lower part, use one-third of the mixture, inserted via a bamboo tube into the lower orifice. After taking the medicine for a period, expel small worms resembling hair, approximately 5-6 sheng. For children, halve the dosage. Avoid raw green onions. This formula is also known as Guizhi Tang (Cinnamon Twig Decoction).
Formula for Shi Qi Dysentery with Pus and Blood and Lower Worm Infestation [Source: *Shenghui Fang*]:
- Huanglian (Rhizoma Coptidis): 3 fen, remove roots, lightly stir-fried (*Waitai Miyao* uses 3 liang).
- La (Beeswax): 1 liang.
- Wumei Rou (Flesh of Fructus Mume): 3 liang, lightly stir-fried.
Grind into powder. Melt beeswax and mix with honey to make pills the size of wutong seeds. Take 30 pills before meals with congee broth, and again at night. *Waitai Miyao* suggests increasing to 40 pills for cure. Avoid pork and cold water. This formula is also known as Huanglian Wan (Coptis Pill).
Formula for Shi Qi Lower Sores [Source: *Shenghui Fang*]:
Burn Matihui (Hoof Ash) to ash, grind into powder. Mix with Zhuzhi (Pig Fat) and apply topically. Apply 5-6 times a day for cure.
Formula for Unceasing Lower Sore Pain in Shi Qi Disease [Source: *Shenghui Fang*]:
Boil Taozhipi (Peach Branch Bark) thickly, extract the juice, and boil until it resembles thick syrup. Insert into the lower orifice. If used for mouth sores, hold in the mouth for cure. Also treats lower sores caused by Heat Diseases.
Formula for Shanghan Disease, treating Roundworms Attacking Heart and Umbilicus with Stabbing Pain and Clear Saliva Vomiting [Source: *Qianjin Fang*]:
Take a raw chicken egg, crack open the small end, and pour out the white. Add 1 he of Qi (Raw Lacquer), mix thoroughly until very thick and foamy. Return to the shell. Swallow upright. After a short while or half a day, vomit or defecate worms. Severe cases may require a second dose. Once worms are cleared, heat dissipates, and the disease heals.
Formula for Toxic Disease Causing Lower Sores [Source: *Zhouhou Fang*]:
Burn salt until yellow, use for insertion (suppository). If blocked, wrap in cotton and apply moxibustion/heat compression.
