Kun Ren (Verse on Shaoyang Syndrome) Vomiting accompanied by fever is treated with Xiaochaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction). This syndrome often arises from deficiency of Stomach Qi. Pathogenic factors are constrained in the meridians and between the exterior and interior. A skilled physician must examine carefully without ambiguity.
Huo Luan (Food Poisoning/Cholera-like Disease) Pulse, Disease, Syndrome, and Treatment Methods: Six Syndromes
Huo Jia Chills and diarrhea with a still faint pulse. Once diarrhea ceases, one must know that Blood has been depleted. Sini Tang (Four Reversal Decoction) added with Renshen (Ginseng Root) and blood-nourishing herbs should be used. Adjust according to the situation for administration.
Huo Yi Headache and fever indicate a balance of Yin and Yang (or mixed cold and heat). Desire to drink but inability to swallow requires distinguishing the key mechanism. If heat predominates, decoct Wuling San (Five-Ingredient Powder with Poria). If cold predominates, urgently administer Lizhong Wan (Regulate the Middle Pill).
Huo Bing When vomiting and diarrhea cease, the interior naturally harmonizes. Body ache remains due to excess exterior pathogenic factors. There is a specific method to resolve the exterior; sweating will lead to recovery. Guizhi Tang (Cinnamon Twig Decoction) should be used to treat until convalescence.
Huo Ding Fever, chills, and sweating occur simultaneously; upper vomiting and lower diarrhea stem from interior deficiency. Limbs are cramped and urgent, with coldness and reversal (Jue). Sini Tang (Four Reversal Decoction) decocted serves as the principal treatment.
Huo Wu Both vomiting and diarrhea occur, urination is clear and frequent. The pulse is faint and nearly imperceptible, with profuse sweating soaking the clothes. Interior cold with exterior heat, and diarrhea of undigested food. Rescue quickly by administering Siji (Four Reversal Agents).
Huo Ji After severe vomiting and purging, body fluids are scanty. Sweating occurs with cold limbs, and the pulse is thread-like. Tongmai Sini Tang (Pulse-Recovering Four Reversal Decoction) added with Pig Gallbladder Bilin should be used. If cramping does not resolve, handle it appropriately.
Yin Yang Yi (Sexual Transmission of Disease) and Lao Fu (Relapse after Recovery) Pulse, Disease, Syndrome, and Treatment Methods: Six Syndromes
Lao Jia The disease of Yin-Yang Exchange affects the person. Shortness of breath, forced sexual intercourse leads to heavy body weight. Heat rushes up to the chest, and the head cannot be lifted. Urgency and difficulty in the genital area and lower abdomen. Cramping of knees and shins makes movement difficult.
Lao Yi After a major illness has newly healed, relapse due to overexertion occurs. Decoct Zhishi Zhizi Chi Tang (Immature Bitter Orange, Gardenia, and Fermented Soybean Decoction). If there is retained food, add Dahuang (Rhubarb Root). Differentiate whether to release the exterior or purge the interior with precision.
Lao Bing After recovery, Taiyang disease returns with fever. Xiaochaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction) can remove the [missing character]. If the pulse is floating, resolve via sweating; if deep and solid, resolve via purging. Adjust appropriately to achieve harmony.
Lao Ding After Taiyang disease resolves, Spleen deficiency results. Heaviness below the waist stems from water qi stagnation. Musi Zexie San (Oyster Shell and Alisma Powder) is the principal treatment. Promoting urination eliminates the disease.
Lao Wu Frequent spitting indicates cold in the Upper Jiao/Stomach. Suspect residual pathogenic factors interfering after recovery. The fluids in the Stomach require warming and moistening. Swallowing Lizhong Wan (Regulate the Middle Pill) brings relief.
Lao Ji After Taiyang disease resolves, Qi is weak and deficient. Counterflow Qi desires to vomit, and the body feels uncomfortable. Zhuye Shigao Tang (Bamboo Leaf and Gypsum Decoction) is the principal treatment. Harmonizing Stomach Qi eliminates all diseases.
