The *Neijing* (Inner Canon) states that in edema, the Lung is affected causing panting and calling, with rebellious Qi preventing lying down. This is because the Kidney governs water metabolism, while the Lung governs Qi dynamics; if Kidney deficiency fails to control water, water Qi overflows causing distension and fullness.
Wushen Wan (Cinnamon Kidney Pill, from *Taiping Shenghui Fang*) treats swelling and fullness caused by Water Qi, coughing, and rebellious Qi rushing upward.
Ingredients: Wuren (Semilunum), Gejie (Gecko, one pair, coated with butter and lightly stir-fried), Mutong (Akebiae Caulis), Hanfangji (Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix), Binglang (Arecae Semen), Daji (Euphorbiae Pekinensis Radix, lightly stir-fried), Yuliren (Pruni Semen), Fuling (Poria).
Administration: Take thirty pills with a decoction.
Dabaiqian Tang (Great White Cynanchum Decoction, from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats Water Qi causing coughing and rebellious Qi, severe generalized edema, shortness of breath, abdominal distension and fullness, inability to lie down day or night, and borborygmus in the abdomen.
Ingredients: Baiqian (Cynanchi Stauntonii Rhizoma), Ziwan (Asteris Radix), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, washed seven times in decoction, cut, dried, and processed to remove slipperiness), Zeqi Gen (Phytolaccae Radix, raw, lightly stir-fried). The above four herbs are crushed and sifted. Take five qian per dose, add one and a half zhen of water, boil down to one zhen, strain, and then add the following ingredients: Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus, peeled), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Chifuling (Poria cum Rubro Cortex, peeled).
Tingli San (Descurainiae Semen et Lepidii Semen Powder) specifically treats ten types of Water Qi diseases, characterized by rapid panting, inability to sit or lie down, and dribbling, painful urination. (See formula under "Shenzhu San").
Chucheng Hanfangji San (Hanfangji Powder by Chu Cheng, from *Qianjin Fang*) treats edema accompanied by rebellious Qi.
Ingredients: Hanfangji, Zeqi Ye (Phytolaccae Folium), Shiwei (Pyrosiae Folium), Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma), Sangbaipipi (Mori Cortex), Baizhu, Danshen (Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Chifuling, Jupi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Tongcao (Tetrapanacis Medulla).
Dazao San (Jujube Powder) specifically treats generalized edema, Lung distension with rebellious Qi preventing lying down, and difficult urination and defecation. Take Dazao San first, then follow with Haige Wan. It prevents recurrence for three years. Attacks occur at specific times.
Pixi Ji (Accumulation in the Flanks and Kidney), extreme pain from accumulated heat, and lower back pain due to excess heat. (From *Shengji Zonglu*).
Ingredients: Yuanhua (Genkwa Flos, fried), Gansui (Kansui Radix, honey-fried), Daji (Euphorbiae Pekinensis Radix, peeled). Crush and sieve into powder. Take one qianbi per dose, administered with a decoction of ten jujubes.

Ingredients: Baiqian, Ziwan, Banxia (washed seven times), Zeqi Gen (stir-fried), Gualou (Trichosanthis Fructus, peeled). Crush and sift. ... (Text incomplete regarding dosage/administration).
Fangji Tang (Stephania Decoction, from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats Water Qi, coughing, and rebellious Qi, edema of the four limbs, and restlessness in sitting or lying down.
