For patients with Huoluan (Acute Gastroenteritis), moxibustion treatment can be applied. Even if immediate recovery is not achieved, there will ultimately be no risk of death. Reverse moxibustion should not be performed. Some patients present with abdominal pain first, while others have diarrhea followed by vomiting; the moxibustion method should be selected according to the specific symptoms.
Treating cases where heart pain occurs first, or vomiting occurs first. (From *Zhouhou Fang*)
Moxibustion at Jueque (CV14): 7 moxa cones. The point is located one cun below the heart area. If ineffective, repeat moxibustion as previously described. *Waitai Miyao* records treating persistent dysentery and rebellious Qi ascending with 50 moxa cones.
Treating uncontrollable vomiting and diarrhea, where both Yin and Yang pulses in both hands are rapid and frequent.
Moxibustion at three cun below the Xinyan bone, and three cun below the umbilicus, 60-70 moxa cones for each location.
Treating dysentery.
Moxibustion at Gumen: 21 moxa cones. The point is located two cun lateral to the umbilicus, left side for males and right side for females, also known as the Front-Mu point of the Large Intestine. If not cured, repeat moxibustion as previously described. From *Jia Yi Zhen Jing*, the acupoint name is Tianshu (ST25).
Treating persistent dysentery. (From *Zhouhou Fang*)
Moxibustion at Dadun (LR1): 7 moxa cones. The point is located on the medial side of the white flesh margin, distal to the metatarsophalangeal joint of the big toe.
Treating cases where abdominal pain occurs first.
Moxibustion at Taicang (CV11): 14 moxa cones. The point is located four cun below the Xinyan and one cun above the umbilicus. If symptoms persist, repeat moxibustion as previously described.
Treating severe pain winding around the umbilicus.
Moxibustion at three cun below the umbilicus: 14 moxa cones. This point is named Guanyuan (CV4), which is effective.
Treating Huoluan causing heart and abdominal pain, distension, vomiting, dysentery, and persistent restlessness; moxibustion is suitable.
Have the patient lie prone with arms extended and hands placed on the ground. Use a small string aligned with the tips of both elbows, measuring from the back along the middle of the spinal column. Mark the point under the string.
Treating damage caused by dysentery, leading to extreme restlessness and near-death state.
Moxibustion at Cigong: 21 moxa cones. Place the moxa cone on both sides of the Henggu bone, each 2.5 cun away. The Henggu bone is located below the horizontal level of the umbilicus, corresponding to the Hengmen bone. For spasms occurring in both arms and the chest.
Scorching Moxa Method (From *Ren Cun Fang*)
Treating Huoluan with spasms, nearing death, but where warmth remains in the abdomen. Moxibustion at Chengjin (BL56): 7 moxa cones. Take a rope to measure the circumference of the foot, from the toes to the heel, wrapping around. Fold the measured length in half. Use this length to place one end at the heel's contact point with the ground, and extend the rope upwards to the mark; this indicates the acupoint. It can revive the dead. Alternatively, fill the umbilicus with salt until solid, and apply 14 moxa cones directly on the salt. Another method is to moxibustion Qihai (CV6), located 1.5 cun below the umbilicus, 14 moxa cones is excellent.
Treating Huoluan, a mysterious method to revive the dead. (From *Jisheng Fang*)
Place an object horizontally across the patient's mouth, bend it, measure from Xinjiuweil down to the head: 5 moxa cones. Measure horizontally to the left and right, then moxibustion 5 moxa cones each. These three locations should all be treated.
Treating cases of apparent death from Huoluan, calling for the soul from the roof.
If all treatments have been applied but the patient does not recover, hold the patient prone, extend arms opposite each other, measure between the elbow tips with a rope, align with the spine under the rope at the large bone, and help the patient sit up.
Treating cold extremities (Reversal Cold).
Moxibustion at Sanyinjiao (SP6). The point is located three cun directly above the medial malleolus, in the depression behind the tibia. 7 moxa cones on each side. If not cured, repeat as previously described.
Treating cold extremities. (From *Zhouhou Fang*)
Moxibustion at the edge of the nail on the big toe: 7 moxa cones.
Treating dry heaving.
Moxibustion at Jianshi (PC4): 7 moxa cones each. The point is located three cun proximal to the wrist crease, between the two tendons. If not cured, moxibustion again.
Treating dry heaving.
Moxibustion at Xinzhujie (Pericardium Master): 7 moxa cones each. The point is located in the crease of the palm and wrist. If vomiting persists, repeat moxibustion as previously described.
Treating severe restlessness and distension/fullness.
Moxibustion at three cun below the Xinyan: 7 moxa cones. This point is named Weiguan.
Treating spasms and four-extremity reversal cold.
Moxibustion at Rugen (ST17) on both breasts, at the junction of black and white skin: 1 moxa cone each. *Waitai Miyao* records moxibustion at the sides of both breasts connected to the dark skin, near the axilla white flesh margin: 7 moxa cones each, up to 14 moxa cones.
Treating food entering the stomach improperly with spasms.
Moxibustion at the white flesh margin of the ankle calcaneus: 21 moxa cones each. Also moxibustion at the center of the lower abdomen, below the transverse bone, as previously described.
Treating spasms.
Moxibustion at Yongquan (KI1): 6-7 moxa cones. The point is located on the sole of the foot, when the big toe is flexed, on the tendon. Also moxibustion at the crease below the big toe: 1 moxa cone.
Treating persistent spasms.
Moxibustion at the upper part of the gathered tendons at the heel, at the white flesh margin: 7 moxa cones. Immediate relief.
Treating sinews entering the abdomen, pain so severe it feels like death. (From *Zhouhou Fang*)
Four people hold the limbs. Moxibustion at one cun above the umbilicus: 14 moxa cones. Do not move the body to avoid further injury. Also moxibustion at the large tendon inside the thigh, 1.15 cun away.
Treating Huoluan with spasms.
Have the patient lie face down with hands extended along the body. Measure horizontally between the tips of both elbows with a rope. Align with the spine on both sides under the rope, 1.5 cun apart each side, and apply moxibustion.
Mainly treating Huoluan leg spasms and sinews entering the abdomen.
Manually twist the big toe of the affected foot. Moxibustion at the urgent tendon under the sole of the foot: 7 moxa cones.
Treating persistent Huoluan spasms gradually entering the abdomen.
Spasms can be fatal. The method to revive the dead is superior to moxibustion. Among moxibustion methods, only three key acupoints are essential. First is Chengjin (BL56), located at the lower margin of the calf, in the depression. Moxibustion 21 moxa cones stabilizes the condition. If spasms persist, moxibustion Yongquan (KI1), located on the sole, 1.5 cun distal to the midpoint of the second metatarsophalangeal joint, on the large tendon. Also moxibustion at the center of the posterior heel, at the junction of black and white skin. These three key points, with 2-3 sets of 7 moxa cones, will definitely be effective.
Treating spasms in both arms, suffering from chest and hypochondriac pain.
Moxibustion at the white flesh margin of the palm: 7 moxa cones.
Treating spasms, ten fingers with tendon cramping, unable to flex or extend.
Moxibustion at the upper part of the wrist bone: 7 moxa cones, which is effective.
Bian Que treats unbearable pain in the tendons, calves, and bones.
Moxibustion at three moxa cones on the transverse tendon below the flexed knee.
Abdominal and intestinal spasms.
Moxibustion at one cun above the umbilicus: 14 moxa cones.
