夫热病在表。或未发汗。或已发汗、吐、下之后。表症未解。毒瓦斯不散。烦热而渴。得
水不能饮。表虚里实。故身体发斑。状如锦文也。
方
解毒香豉饮子 治心肺藏热毒。攻于皮肤。遍生赤斑。重者其色紫黑。宜服。

仁甘草（生用各三分） 木香 犀角屑 羚羊角屑（各一分） 右为细散。每服不计时候。
煎
竹叶汤调下二钱。
生地黄膏 治热病。温毒大疫发斑。宜服。
生地黄（半斤切） 豉（一升） 雄黄（细研） 麝香（细研各二钱） 上件药。以猪
膏二斤。
慢火煎地黄并豉三分。煎至二分。绞去滓。入雄黄、麝香、搅令匀。以瓷盒内贮之。每服不
计时候。以温水调下半匙。服此药后。其毒皆从皮肤中出。即瘥。
解毒犀角散 治热病。毒瓦斯外攻皮肤斑出。狂乱躁热。宜服。

黑奴丸（出圣惠方）治热病。温毒中人斑出赤者。五死一生。黑者十死一生

上取好蜜通身摩。疮上赤。以蜜煎升麻数涂之。

以升麻浓煮。绵滤洗之。苦酒渍弥好。但痛难忍。
治热病斑发。须臾遍身皆戴白浆。此热毒瓦斯盛方。
上煮葵菜叶及韭薤。啖之则止。
又方（出圣惠方）
以鲜羊血服三二合则止。初患急服之。
天行热病。若发赤黑斑如疹。（出本草）
用青木香二两。水二升。煮取一升。顿服之效。

When a heat disease is at the exterior level, either sweating has not yet been induced, or after sweating, emesis, or purgation have been performed, the exterior syndrome remains unresolved. The toxic pathogenic factors fail to dissipate, resulting in vexation, fever, and thirst. Although there is an urge to drink water, it cannot be swallowed. This presents as deficiency at the exterior and excess at the interior, causing macules to appear on the body, resembling the patterns of brocade fabric.
Prescriptions
Jiedu Xiangchi Yinzi (Detoxifying Fermented Soybean Decoction): Treats heat-toxin in the Heart and Lung organs attacking the skin, causing widespread red macules. In severe cases, the color may be purple-black. It is suitable for use.
Fermented Soybean (Xiangchi, 2 liang), Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao, 3 liang), Gardenia Seed (Zhizi Ren), Indigo Naturalis (Daqing), Bupleurum Root (Chuan Shengma), Mirabilite (Chuan Mangxiao), Rhubarb (Chuan Dahuang, cut into small pieces and lightly stir-fried), Licorice Root (Gancao, each 0.5 liang, used raw). Finely cut the above herbs, mix evenly. Take 0.5 liang per dose. Add one large cup of water, 0.5 fen of fresh ginger, and seven cun of scallion white. Decoct until five parts remain. Strain the dregs. Take warm at any time.
Xijiao San (Rhinoceros Horn Powder): Treats heat disease causing red eyes, restlessness, delirious speech, inability to sit or lie comfortably, and the appearance of red macules on the body. It is suitable for use.
Rhinoceros Horn shavings (Xijiao xie), Gentian Root (Longdan Cao, remove rhizome), Ginseng Root (Renshen, remove rhizome), Licorice Root (Gancao, used raw, each 0.5 liang), Non-ash Wood (Buhui Mu, burned with cow dung ash and finely ground), Scutellaria Root (Huangqin, each 1 liang), Rhubarb (Chuan Dahuang, 3 fen, cut into small pieces and lightly stir-fried). Grind into a coarse powder. Take 3 qian per dose. Add one medium cup of water and fourteen leaves of Bamboo Leaf (Zhuye). Decoct until six parts remain. Strain the dregs. Take warm at any time.
Yinchen San (Artemisia Capillaris Powder): Treats heat disease with macules. It is suitable for use.
Artemisia Capillaris (Yinchen, 2 liang), Rhubarb (Chuan Dahuang, cut into small pieces and lightly stir-fried), Scrophularia Root (Xuanshen, each 1 liang), Gardenia Seed (Zhizi Ren, 1 fen), Licorice Root (Gancao, 0.5 liang, used raw). Grind into a powder. Take 4 qian per dose. Add one medium cup of water. Decoct until six parts remain. Strain the dregs. Take warm at any time.
Niuhuang San (Calculus Bovis Powder): Treats heat disease with macules; has detoxifying effects and is suitable for use.
Calculus Bovis (Niuhuang, finely ground), Bupleurum Root (Chuan Shengma), Areca Seed (Binglang, each 0.5 liang), Ginseng Root (Renshen, remove rhizome), Rhubarb (Chuan Dahuang, cut into small pieces and lightly stir-fried, each 1 liang), Gardenia Seed (Zhizi Ren), Licorice Root (Gancao, used raw, each 3 fen), Costus Root (Muxiang), Rhinoceros Horn shavings (Xijiao xie), Antelope Horn shavings (Lingyangjiao xie, each 1 fen). Grind into a fine powder. Take 2 qian at any time, mixed with decoction of Bamboo Leaf (Zhuye).
Shengdihuang Gao (Rehmannia Paste): Treats heat disease and macules caused by warm-toxin epidemics. It is suitable for use.
Rehmannia Root (Shengdihuang, 0.5 jin, sliced), Fermented Soybean (Chi, 1 sheng), Realgar (Xionghuang, finely ground), Musk (Shexiang, finely ground, each 2 qian). Using 2 jin of lard, slowly decoct the Rehmannia and Fermented Soybean until two-thirds remain, then further reduce to two parts remaining. Strain out the dregs. Add Realgar and Musk, stirring to mix evenly. Store in a porcelain container. Take half a spoonful at any time, mixed with warm water. After taking this medicine, the toxin will exit through the skin, and the disease will resolve.
Jiedu Xijiao San (Detoxifying Rhinoceros Horn Powder): Treats heat disease where toxic pathogens attack the exterior skin causing macules, accompanied by mania, restlessness, and heat. It is suitable for use.
Rhinoceros Horn shavings (Xijiao xie), Scutellaria Root (Huangqin), Indigo Naturalis (Daqing), Natrii Sulfas (Mayaoning, each 1 liang), Gardenia Seed (Zhizi Ren), Calculus Bovis (Niuhuang, finely ground), Himalayan Beechwood Honeydew (Tianzhuhuang, finely ground), Red Poria (Chifuling), Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian, remove roots), Licorice Root (Gancao, used raw, each 0.5 liang). Grind into a fine powder. Take 2 qian at any time, mixed with decoction of Bamboo Leaf (Zhuye).
Shengma San (Bupleurum Powder, from *Quan Sheng Hui Fang*): Treats heat disease presenting with red macules and mental/physical restlessness. It is suitable for use.
Bupleurum Root (Chuan Shengma), Rhubarb (Chuan Dahuang, cut, ground fine, and stir-fried), Ginseng Root (Renshen, remove rhizome), Rhinoceros Horn shavings (Xijiao xie), Scrophularia Root (Xuanshen, each 1 liang), Licorice Root (Gancao, 0.5 liang, used raw). Grind into a fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose, mixed with freshly drawn cold water. Take four to five times daily.
Heinu Wan (Black Slave Pill, from *Quan Sheng Hui Fang*): Treats heat disease where warm-toxin invades causing red macules. Prognosis is poor: five out of ten die. If macules are black, nine out of ten die. Epidemics are difficult to save. All cases should take this pill.
Ephedra Herb (Mahuang, 3 fen, remove root and joints), Rhubarb (Chuan Dahuang, 0.5 liang, cut into small pieces and lightly stir-fried), Mirabilite (Chuan Mangxiao), Scutellaria Root (Huangqin), Dragon's Blood Resin (Fulonggan), Chimney Soot (Zaotu Zhong Mo), Dust from Roof Beams (Liangshang Chen, each 1 liang). Grind into powder. Mix with refined honey and pound three to two hundred times. Form pills the size of a bullet. Take one pill at any time, dissolved in freshly drawn cold water. If thirsty, drink water. Shortly thereafter, chills will occur; when chills arise, sweating will follow and the disease will resolve. If unresolved, take another pill.
Daqing San (Indigo Naturalis Powder, from *Quan Sheng Hui Fang*): Treats heat disease where heat-toxin macules appear on the head, face, and body.
Indigo Naturalis (Daqing, 2 liang), Donkey-hide Gelatin (Ejiao, 0.5 liang, crushed and stir-fried until yellow and dry), Fermented Soybean (Chi, 1 he). Use one and a half large cups of water for all ingredients. Decoct until five parts remain. Strain the dregs. Add gelatin and dissolve. Take divided into two warm doses at any time.
Formula for treating heat disease macules sores, where the head, face, and entire body develop pustules with white fluid:
Apply good quality honey over the entire body. For red sores, apply decocted Bupleurum Root (Shengma) several times.
Another Formula (from *Quan Sheng Hui Fang*)
Decoct Bupleurum Root (Shengma) strongly, filter through cotton cloth, and wash the affected area. Soaking in vinegar (Ku Jiu) is better but causes unbearable pain.
Formula for heat disease macules appearing suddenly all over the body with white fluid, indicating excessive heat-toxin:
Boil leaves of Malva Verticillata (Kui Cai) and Chinese Leek Bulbs (Jiu Xie) and consume them to stop progression.
Another Formula (from *Quan Sheng Hui Fang*)
Consume two to three he of fresh sheep blood to stop progression. Take urgently at the onset.
Tianxing Rebing (Epidemic Heat Disease), if red or black macules like rashes appear (from *Ben Cao*):
Use 2 liang of Akebia Stem (Qingmuxiang) and 2 sheng of water. Boil to obtain 1 sheng. Take in one dose for efficacy.
