Shao Yang Xiang Huo (Ministerial Fire of San Jiao and Pericardium) governs the Si Tian (Heavenly Qi), Jue Yin Feng Mu (Wind Wood of Liver and Gallbladder) governs the Zai Quan (Earthly Qi), and the central Yun (Central Movement) is Tai Gong Earth Movement. The Earth movement is excessive in this year, so the Qi transformation operates ahead of time. Fire transforms into the Heavenly Qi.

The Earthly Qi manifests as rain, corresponding to the star Ying Huo (Mars). The climate is harmonious without contention, with wind and rain alternating. The people are prone to diseases such as alternating chills and fever, malaria, diarrhea, deafness, and blurred vision; symptoms include vomiting, regurgitation of stomach contents, edema, and changes in complexion.

In this year, Yang Qi governs the Heavenly Qi, Yin Qi governs the Earthly Qi, and the central movement is Earth. Wood generates Fire, Fire generates Earth, the lower generates the upper, and the Heavenly Qi is abundant. It is advisable to adopt methods of resolution and drainage beforehand. Shao Yang Xiang Huo is in charge. If Fire Qi is excessive and rampant, warm Qi will circulate, and the policy of Metal will be unbalanced. The people may suffer from headache, fever with aversion to cold accompanied by malaria-like symptoms; heat rising upward causes pain, yellowish-red complexion, and if transmitted, water retention leading to swelling of the body and face, abdominal fullness, orthopnea, dysentery with red and white pus/blood, sores and ulcers, cough with hemoptysis, vexation and heat in the chest. This may lead to rhinorrhea and epistaxis. The root of the disease lies in the Lung. Diagnosis should focus on the pulse at the Hand Tian Fu acupoint. The treatment principle is to use salty and cold substances to level it, assisted by sweet and bitter flavors, using sour flavor to astringe, bitter flavor to disperse, and then sour flavor to re-astringe.

After the middle of the year, Jue Yin Feng Mu takes charge. Wood can overcome Earth, and the Earthly Qi restricts the movement. Wind becomes rampant internally, the Earthly Qi becomes unclear, the plains become dim, and grasses and trees flower early. The people are prone to abdominal distension and frequent belching.

The First Qi period starts from the beginning of Yin hour on the day of Da Han (Major Cold) in the Gui Wei year, ending at the beginning of Zi hour on the day of Chun Fen (Spring Equinox) of this year, lasting 60 days and 87.5 ke. The Main Position is Tai Jiao Wood... [Text corruption here]. Cool air arrives. Use bitter flavor to drain. The Main Position Shao... [Text incomplete]... early withering. For 60... circulation. Its... Year Grain... Earthly Qi... [Text severely corrupted]. Combining context and Su Wen logic: The Fourth Qi, starting from noon on Da Shu (Great Heat) day until Xu hour on Autumn Equinox day, lasts over 60 days. Main Position is Tai Gong Earth, Guest Qi is Tai Yang Water. Central movement is Metal. Metal and Water generate each other, cold rain descends. Diseases include sudden collapse, tremors, delirium, dryness of the throat with thirst, heart pain, carbuncles, sores, malaria with chills, bone atrophy, and hematochezia. Treat the Guest Qi of Tai Yang with bitter to tonify, salty to drain, bitter to firm, and pungent to moisten. Year grain should be red (Dan), intercalary grain should be millet (Ji). Although there is cold transformation, it cannot become pathogenic.

Yang Ming Zao Jin (Dryness Metal) governs the Si Tian, Shao Yin Jun Huo (Ruler Fire) governs the Zai Quan, and the central Yun is Shao Shang Metal Movement. The Metal movement is deficient in this year, so Qi transformation operates behind time. Shao Shang Metal is deficient... [Text corruption]... nature is rigid and decisive... its... interval... Yang monopolizes the command, hot summer heat prevails, things become dry and hard. Pure wind arrives, wind and dryness move horizontally, flowing into the Qi intersection. There is much Yang and little Yin, damp transformation spreads, extreme dryness leads to moisture, hibernating insects appear, flowing water does not freeze. Metal and Fire combine their virtues, corresponding above to Bai Tai (Venus) and Ying Huo (Mars). The corresponding grains... Those destined for Tai, their consumption involves white-shelled and feathered creatures. Thus it is said that heat transformation and cold transformation victory and retaliation are the same, the degree of pathogenic Qi transformation. Dryness transformation is four, clarity transformation is four... degree of transformation. Suitability of year substances: shellfish remain quiet, birds breed. Restricted by Earthly Qi, shellfish are consumed. Cold toxins do not grow. Therefore, clarity... holds in the Qi intersection. Clarity comes first and is vigorous, hair-covered creatures die. Heat follows and is violent, shellfish suffer calamity. Their agitation causes people to suffer from cough, throat obstruction, tremors, and stranguria.

Before the middle of the year, Yang Ming Zao Jin is in charge. Its transformation is dryness, which is the administration of Heaven.
After the middle of the year, Shao Yin Jun Huo is in charge. Its command is heat, which is the transformation of Earth. Metal is Heavenly Qi, Fire is Earthly Qi. Fire can overcome Metal. The Fourth Qi, from noon on Great Heat day to Xu hour on Autumn Equinox day, lasts over 60 days. Main position is Tai Gong Earth, Guest Qi is Tai Yang Water, central movement is Metal. Metal and Water generate each other, cold rain descends. Sudden collapse, tremors, delirium, dry throat with thirst, heart pain, sores, malaria chills, bone atrophy, blood in stool. Treat Tai Yang's guest with bitter to tonify, salty to drain, bitter to firm, pungent to moisten. Year grain suitable is Dan (red), intercalary grain is Ji (millet). Even with cold transformation, it cannot act as a pathogen.

The Fifth Qi, from Hai hour on Autumn Equinox day to You hour on Minor Snow day, lasts over 60 days. Main position is Shao Shang Metal, Guest Qi is Jue Yin Wood, central movement is Metal. The year movement is in place, its Qi is balanced. Jue Yin resides here, spring commands reverse, grasses flourish, people are harmonious. Regulate Jue Yin's guest with pungent to tonify, sour to drain, sweet to relax. Year grain suitable is Dan (red), intercalary grain is Dao (rice). Even with wind transformation, it cannot act as a pathogen.

The Final Qi, from You hour on Minor Snow day to Wei hour on Major Cold day, lasts over 60 days. Main position is Tai Yu Water, Guest Qi is Shao Yin Fire, central movement is Metal. Fire overcomes Metal, Yang Qi spreads, climate is unexpectedly warm, hibernating insects appear, flowing water does not freeze, people are healthy and peaceful. Their disease is warmth. Treat Shao Yin's guest with salty to tonify, sweet to drain, sour to astringe. Year grain suitable is Dan (red), intercalary grain is Dou (beans). Even with heat transformation, it cannot act as a pathogen.

This is the normal pattern of the Six Qi. The great method of treatment is to level those that are harmonious, following each Qi, maintaining clarity and stillness, so that pathogenic Qi naturally declines and returns to its source. This is the general principle of treatment.
