The *Suwen* (Basic Questions) states: For those with deficiency of form, warm them with Qi-tonifying methods; for those with deficiency of essence, tonify them with flavorful substances. Generally, after a disease of sores and toxins, patients suffer from heat, pain, and distress, with vexation and stagnation of Heart Qi, and oppression and fullness in the chest and diaphragm, leading to an inability to eat. Therefore, patients suffering from sores and toxins must rely on the flavors of food and drink to nourish their essence and assist their true Qi, so that they may be replenished and recover soon.
The classics state: The Spleen is the official of the granaries, and the Stomach is the sea of water and grain, primarily responsible for nourishing the four extremities. It is essential to regulate the Spleen and Stomach and promote appetite as the primary strategy. Otherwise, the True Yuan will be depleted, the body will become emaciated, and pathogenic evil qi will attack internally, making it extremely difficult to manage. One may take Fuling KaWei San (Poria Appetite-Opening Powder), Renshen Neibu San (Ginseng Internal-Tonification Powder), or Jiahe San (Harvesting Grain Powder). Additionally, one may concurrently take Wuxiang Jia Xijiao Renshen Huangqi Tang (Five-Spice Decoction with Rhinoceros Horn, Ginseng, and Astragalus) or Paiong Neibu Shixuan San (Draining Pus and Internal-Tonification Ten-Auspicious Powder), among others. Shenling Shunqi San (Ginseng and Poria Regulating-Qi Powder) is also suitable.
