Others. Once descended from the summit of Mount Heng. I wished to avoid him but could not. Thus, I respectfully welcomed him. Half a *li* away, he bowed to me, daring not to look directly at me. A young boy had come beforehand to guide. Suddenly, I did not recognize where I was. In a moment, I learned it was a Palace of Immortals, not the mortal world. Therefore, I leave this prescription for posterity. Wise people should not slight it. Do not pass it to ordinary folks; merely transmitting it will surely lead to it being despised and becoming a topic of ridicule. Mr. Zhang's method for taking raw Apricot Kernels (*Xingren*), including taboos and adjustments. This method was obtained from Master Yuan of Qisheng Temple. Master Yuan obtained this text from Yang Xingzhen of Mount Wangwu. It states: Every morning on an empty stomach, take fourteen Apricot Kernels (*Xingren*), selecting those with the skin and tips removed and having two kernels in one shell. Facing southeast, before rinsing the mouth, chew thoroughly until half a mouthful of saliva is produced, then swallow. When walking the distance of one *li*, eat as desired, lest the medicinal power be reduced. Regarding all effects of Apricot Kernels (*Xingren*): After taking them for twenty-one days, during the fourth week, flatulence will be three times more than usual. After three months, the feet will feel hot as fire, and the wasting disease (*Shou Bing*) in the abdomen will heal spontaneously. After eight months, the Lungs (*Fei Zang*) will harmonize, the wasting disease (*Shou Bing*) will be permanently cut off, and the appearance will resemble that of an infant. By sixteen months, the Zang-Fu organs will renew, the chest and diaphragm will be open and comfortable, upper Qi rebellion (*Shang Qi*) will cease permanently, and accumulated Qi (*Pi Qi*) will dissipate. After twenty-four months, the Liver (*Gan*) will become bright, and any masses or pathological products (*Jia Pi*) on the Liver will fall off spontaneously; eyes will be clear, eye diseases eliminated, and vision extended. After thirty-two months, the Spleen (*Pi*) will be smooth, the Stomach (*Wei*) open, the body may tremble slightly, spleen stagnation (*Pi Qi*) will vanish, and the intestines and stomach will be unobstructed. After forty months, the Kidneys (*Shen*) will be upright, black skin shed, Qi flow unimpeded, cold accumulation between the waist and navel completely resolved, and sexual vitality restored to youth. Upon completing two years, harm from hundred ailments will not injure. After three years, hundred deities will protect. After three years, Grain Qi breaks apart, causing pain in the navel, followed by the sudden expulsion of one thousand pieces of fresh blood. Do not be alarmed; this indicates the medicine has arrived and taken effect. This is the highest grade of efficacy for longevity. If blood does not descend from the Large Intestine within three years, it is also a sign of secondary-high grade longevity efficacy. If four years pass without descent, by the fifth year, blood will certainly not come again. If blood continues to come as described previously, it means Grain Qi is heavy and medicinal power has not yet broken through the intestines; when it comes, increase Apricot Kernels (*Xingren*) to forty-seven to break through. The intestinal tract must be broken through by medicinal power; this is also an inevitable effect of annual cycles. Whenever Apricot Kernels (*Xingren*) cause blood discharge for one day, do not disdain food. On the second day at dawn, blood purges. After purging, food smells foul, and visual/auditory stimuli induce nausea. Those who can endure hunger for seven days are supreme immortals. Those unable to endure hunger may eat boiled white glutinous rice porridge juice at will; this special treatment yields secondary immortals. On the third, fifth, and seventh days, one sheng of blood is discharged, accompanied by aversion to food odor. On the eighth day after dawn blood discharge, food smells pleasant; eat freely but sparingly, as excess causes fullness. On the seventh day, another sheng of blood is discharged. From the eighth day onwards, three or two-and-a-half sheng of blood is discharged at dawn. The eighth, ninth, tenth, and eleventh days are similar. From the twelfth day onwards, blood is discharged three times over two days. The thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth days are similar. On the sixteenth day, five or six sheng of blood is discharged. The sixteenth through nineteenth days are similar. From the twentieth day onwards, three to four sheng of blood is discharged three times over two days. The twenty-first, twenty-second, and twenty-third days are similar. The twenty-sixth and twenty-seventh days are similar. From the twenty-eighth day onwards, four or five sheng of blood is discharged once every two days. The twenty-ninth and thirtieth days are similar. Thereafter, starting from the fourth day, reduction occurs. Daily blood loss decreases by two or three sheng compared to normal. One feels light, like removing a heavy burden or taking off boots. The user knows this intuitively. Exactly at one hundred days, bleeding stabilizes. The grain and intestines are completely replaced. For those who only seek to cure illness and not achieve longevity, three days after blood discharge, use Mulberry Fruit (*Sang Shen*). Or green mulberries grown on mulberry trees, pounded into powder, taken like tea, one or two bowls. Bleeding stops. If no mulberry powder is available, use Indigo Juice (*Lan Zhi*) or Thistle Juice (*Ciji Zhi*), one bowl; bleeding stops. During bleeding, there may be mild intense pain; wait a moment, clarity returns immediately.

Method for Taking Sichuan Pepper (*Huajiao*) (from *Jiacang Jingyan Fang*) Compiled by Chen Ye of Shulin.
An old man from Qingcheng Mountain obtained a wonderful secret from taking Sichuan Pepper (*Huajiao*). Over ninety years old, his appearance does not match his age (80 is *Qi*, 90 is *Die*). He bowed and asked for advice. He happily explained to me.
Two *jin* of Shu Pepper (*Shu Jiao*), clean and pick out stems and closed-mouth peppers, weigh cleanly. Six *liang* of salt, preferably blue-white with turtle-shell patterns, grind fine, mix with salt, boil slowly... sweep... evenly.
Say: Initially take fifteen pills, morning and evening without missing. Gradually increase each month, accumulating to two hundred. (First month: 15 pills morning, 15 evening; next month morning...) Salt wine or salt water, as you wish. After taking for half a year, the chest and diaphragm may feel slightly cold. Reduce by ten pills daily, returning to fifteen pills. Take frequently as... Wait until no obstruction exists, resume previous dosage. Ensure Qi steams and circulates, otherwise previous efforts are lost. (Must continue taking so that Pepper Qi steams morning and evening, not missing a day...) Diet fruits and vegetables, etc., have no taboos. Efficacy seen in one year, complexion becomes radiant, eyes bright and ears sharp, hair turns black, tonifies Kidneys and lightens waist... Merit and... Like this... If desires can be forgotten, efficacy is even more outstanding. I desire peace for the world, composed this song with anxiety.

Song says: Pepper corresponds to Five Elements, person understands Six Principles. To know prior merit, do not rise at night. Within half a year of taking, soles sweat like water. Four... children, spirit clear and sleep less. Just take this miraculous substance, life free from malaria and dysentery. If taken with sincere devotion, Three Worms (*San Shi*) naturally abandon. Nine types of worms also avoid. If meeting such a person, first convey the message. Though not meeting immortals, initial affinity has found ground.
