Old pine trees naturally accumulate resin. If obtained by humans, using accumulated resin is best. First, the resin from broken places at the root that have never seen sunlight is called Yin Zhi (Yin Resin), which is superior. Only five hundred li east of Mount Heng are large pines, thirty or forty zhou in circumference, producing much resin. The Immortal Canon states: Enter the shady side of Mount Heng in March, take Song Zhi (Pinus Resin) that has not seen sunlight, refine and ingest it. It will come naturally without summoning. Take for one hundred days, resist cold and heat. Take for two hundred days, tonify the five Zang organs. Take for five years, one will see Xi Wangmu (Queen Mother of the West). The Immortal Canon also states: Among the 365 mountains where stones grow, the edible ones are full of Yin Huai Song Zhi (Pinus Resin in shady valleys). That valley is directly 480 li east of the ridge of Mount Heng, located at Heng Jian, northeast of Heng Ling. Going south into the valley for 50 li to the cave openings.
