The etiology of the disease lies in a condition where some individuals have an abnormal craving for eating rice or stones. The longer the duration, the more addicted they become to eating rice. If they cannot obtain rice, clear fluid will emerge from the chest. Upon obtaining rice and water, this symptom ceases. Since the rice is not digested, it forms a mass (Zheng Jie). The patient constantly desires only rice and cannot eat other foods; if prolonged, it leads to death.
Prescription:
San Zheng Tang (Dispersing Mass Decoction) (from *Qian Jin Fang*), treats Rice Syndrome (Mi Zheng). The characteristic of this disease is that the patient constantly desires to eat rice. If rice is unavailable, clear fluid emerges from the chest.
Chicken Droppings (1 Sheng) White Rice (5 Ge) Mix and stir-fry until the rice is scorched black. Pound and sieve into a powder. Take with 2 Sheng of water in one dose. Shortly after, vomiting will occur. After vomiting, the Rice Syndrome is cured.
For long-standing Rice Syndrome that has not been treated, resulting in emaciation and thinness:
Scallion White (amount held in two tiger's mouths, chopped) Dark Plum (30 pieces, crushed) Add 3 Sheng of water and soak the dark plum overnight until the liquid is extremely concentrated. Eat the scallion white in the early morning, then drink the soaked dark plum water.
Prescription for Eating Raw Rice (from *Jia Cang Jing Yan Fang*): Men or women, due to consuming mixed raw and cooked food, causing stagnation in the Spleen and Stomach, eventually leading to the generation of parasites. Over time, they develop a preference for eating raw rice; otherwise, they are unhappy all day, leading to emaciated skin, sallow complexion, loss of appetite, and endangering life.
Take Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae (Cang Zhu) without limit. Soak in rice washing water overnight, take out, chop, dry by baking, and grind into fine powder. Use thin flour paste as a binder to make pills, size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take 50 pills each time, before meals on an empty stomach, swallowed with rice water, three times a day. Yi Chang musician Liu Qingxiao had a maid named Hua Cui, over fifteen years old (Ji Ji age), who suffered from this illness. This is because Cang Zhu can remove dampness, warm the Stomach, and aid digestion. Yin Xian stated he once used this medicine to treat Chang Zhen Sheng Gan from Mian Zhou, who recovered in twenty days, so it was recorded in the book.

*Bing Yuan* records: Some people accidentally ingest hair with their food and drink, which enters the body and forms a mass. They feel something moving up and down in the chest and throat like a worm; this is Hair Syndrome (Fa Zheng).
Prescription:
Hair in food is ingested unknowingly. After a long time, there is a sensation in the chest as if a worm is moving up and down. The patient only desires to drink oil, sometimes up to three times a day.
Take 1 Sheng of oil, decocted with Xiang Ze (a hair conditioning oil). Store in a large container. Place it beside the patient's head, allowing their mouth and nose to be near the oil surface, but do not allow them to drink water. Apply to the nose and face to impart a fragrance. When the patient calls out asking for water, do not give it. The patient will become extremely fatigued and fall into a deep sleep. At this point, the hair syndrome will exit through the mouth along with the ingested oil. Have someone watch closely and prepare a bag of Ferrous Sulfate (Duan Shi). When the syndrome exits, use ash powder on hands to grasp and extract the mass. It will be extracted completely in a moment; this is the hair. Initially, it comes out from the abdomen...
Another Prescription (from *Qian Jin Fang*):
Take 3 Sheng of wine and decoct 2 Sheng of Pig Fat until it boils three times. Take 1 Sheng per dose, twice a day. Taking it with White Horse Urine is also good. If horse urine is unavailable, White Cow Urine is acceptable.
Treats the sensation of hair worms moving up and down in the chest and throat, with a specific craving for the aroma of Scallion and Fermented Soybean (Cong Chi). This is caused by hair worms.
Decoct Scallion and Fermented Soybean in oil until fragrant. Fast for two days, lie with mouth open. Place the oiled Scallion and Fermented Soybean near the patient's mouth. The worms will gradually emerge. Slowly guide them out with an object.
Treating accidental ingestion of hair, resembling Gu Disease:
Grind Realgar (Xiong Huang) finely, process by water flotation (Shui Fei), mix with wine and administer. Recovery occurs after vomiting out the foul matter.
