The *Bing Yuan* records: Bie Zheng (Turtle-shaped Mass) refers to an abdominal mass shaped like a turtle. It can arise from eating turtle meat followed by exposure to cold leading to indigestion, or from consuming various miscellaneous items that fail to digest due to cold.
Xiezhao Wan (Crab Claw Pill), used to treat Bie Zheng. Symptoms present as a mass in the epigastrium, where the head and feet can be seen upon palpation, moving occasionally accompanied by pain.
Formula: Xiezhao (Crab Claws) (3 fen), Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root) (6 fen, processed), Shexiang (Musk) (3 fen, ground), Banxia (Pinellia Tuber) (6 fen, washed seven times with decoction), Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger) (4 fen, minced), Biejia (Turtle Shell) (6 fen, roasted), Fangkui (Adenophorae Radix) (6 fen), Yuliren (Prunus Armeniaca Seed) (8 fen). The above herbs are crushed, sieved, and mixed with honey to form pills the size of wutong seeds. Take 20 pills on an empty stomach with wine.
Treatment for Bie Zheng latent in the epigastrium, where palpation reveals heads and feet moving occasionally, as well as chronic masses in the heart and abdomen and sudden onset of masses. (From *Zhouhou Fang*)
Take two white female chickens, fast them for one night. On the next morning, feed them rice cooked with fat. Collect their feces, regardless of quantity, mix with urine. Dry the mixture over fire in a copper vessel, crush, and sieve. Take one fangcun bi per dose, four to five times daily, until the disease is completely resolved. Usually raise chickens to collect feces; after recovery, slaughter the chicken and eat only the meat.
