Lung distension (Fei Zhang) is a disease arising from disturbances in the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian. When pathogenic factors invade the lung vessels, Qi is affected first. The clinical manifestations include lung distension and fullness, chest swelling, wheezing, coughing, pain in the supraclavicular fossa (Quepen), and in severe cases, crossing both hands over the chest with visual disturbance or syncope, which is termed "Arm Jue" (Bi-jue). The Classics state: symptoms of lung distension include deficiency with fullness, wheezing, coughing with air rushing upward requiring support to breathe, eyes protruding as if falling out, and a floating pulse.
