In cases of spider or centipede bites, mild symptoms present as swelling and pain. Severe cases may ulcerate and form sores. Without external application of medicinal plasters and internal administration of detoxifying herbs, recovery is difficult.
Four-Essence Ointment (Sishen Gao)
Treats pain from spider bites.
Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus (Zaojia), Chrysobalanus Icinus (Wuyi), Realgar (Xionghuang), and Blue Vitriol (Qingyan) are ground into fine powder in equal parts and mixed uniformly. Blend with honey and apply to the bite site. Change frequently for excellent results.
Jujube Leaf Powder (Zaoye San)
Treats sores caused by spider bites.
Jujube Leaves (Zaoye) and Cupressi Cacumen (Baiye) (harvested on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month and dried in shade), Rust from Iron (Shengtieyi), and Silkworm Excrement (Wancansha) are used in equal parts, pounded into a powder. Mix with raw sesame oil to form a paste. Apply moxibustion to the affected area first.
Jujube and Cypress Ointment (Zaobai Gao) (from *Quan Sheng Mi Zhai Fang*)
Treats sores from spider bites when other treatments fail.
Jujube Leaves (Zaoye), Cupressi Cacumen (Baiye), and Silkworm Excrement (Wancansha) are used in equal parts, pounded into powder, and mixed with raw oil to form a paste. Apply moxibustion to the bite site first, then apply the leaf mixture for good effect.
Chrysobalanus Powder (Wuyi San) (from *Quan Sheng Mi Zhai Fang*)
Treats spider bites resulting in widespread sores; an immediate-effect prescription.
White Chrysobalanus Icinus (Bai Wuyi, 1 qian), Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus (Zaojia, 10 pods), and Blue Vitriol (Qingyan, 0.5 fen) are ground into powder. Mix with refined honey to make pills the size of soap beans. For each injury, dissolve one pill in honey and apply to the sore. Divine efficacy.
Realgar Ointment (Xionghuang Gao), also known as Indigo Juice Ointment (Lanzhi Gao) (from *Quan Sheng Mi Zhai Fang*)

Willow White Powder (Liubai San) (from *Quan Sheng Mi Zhai Fang*)
