The Classic states: The victory and return (Shengfu) of Heaven and Earth Qi do not manifest in pulse diagnosis. Pulse methodology states: The changes of Heaven and Earth cannot be fully diagnosed by pulses; this is what is meant. As the annual movement shifts, if the left and right pulses intersect, it indicates death. If only one side is abnormal without intersection, it is called "non-responsive." Only in the years of Yin-Shen, Si-Hai, Chen-Xu, and Chou-Wei (eight-year cycles) is there a response. The isolated sinking of the Cun pulse is neither intersection nor reversal; it merely indicates disease in the upper part. This serves as an example; the same applies to other years. Therefore, the Classic states: One must first know the annual Qi and not disrupt the harmony of Heaven and Humanity. Unskilled physicians do not understand this, calling it cold or heat diseases. They treat cold with heat, resulting in unchanged pulses but the emergence of heat diseases; they treat heat with cold, resulting in unchanged pulses but the emergence of cold diseases. How can one seek appropriateness? The cause of premature death lies here. Generally, when the six pulses encounter the Shengfu of Yunqi (Six Qi movements), just as they are executing their command, during their transformation period, the pulse movements differ. Examining various theories, they are largely similar with minor differences. If the intersection of Qi and Yun occurs at the appointed time, appearing exactly then, without being too early or too late, neither insufficient nor excessive, this is called a balanced pulse.

Metal Jia uses Maziren Wan (Hemp Seed Pill), preferring freshness. Yi, Bing use Tiaowei Chengqi Tang for bowel movement. Ding day, Xiao Chengqi Tang serves as an assistant. From Wu to Gui, Da Chengqi Tang is supreme.
Fire Character: Ten Syndromes.
Fire corresponds to Chishao Dou Chi (Soybean Fermented Decoction), Zhizi (Gardenia Fruit); Jia, Wu are primary. Bing uses Zhu Danzhi (Pig Bile), Ding uses reverse method, Yi divides with Baihu Tang. Gui uses Mi Dao Zhu Danzhi (Honey Suppository with Pig Bile). Mahuang, Ren use Xiaochaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction); Geng, Ji, Xin use other formulas.
