There is Spleen Diarrhea (Pi Xie) and Kidney Diarrhea (Shen Xie). Spleen Diarrhea is characterized by heavy and burdensome limbs, a feeling of obstruction in the Zhongwan region (CV12), a sallow and deficient complexion, and slight abdominal distension. Kidney Diarrhea is characterized by coldness in the skin and pores, soreness and pain in the lower back, upward coughing with a darkened complexion, and pain in the umbilical and abdominal regions. For treating Spleen Diarrhea, use Atractylodis Rhizoma (Cangzhu), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu), Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex (Houpo), Zingiberis Rhizoma Preparatum (Ganjiang), Aucklandiae Radix (Muxiang), and Cardamomi Fructus Viridis (Sheng Doukou). For treating Kidney Diarrhea, use Psoraleae Fructus (Buguzhi) and formulas such as Anshen Wan (Kidney-Nourishing Pill) and Zhenling Dan (Shaking Spirit Cinnabar Pill).
