Treats body heat with vomiting and dysentery, incessant diarrhea, intestinal disorders (Changpi), dysentery with red and white discharge, stranguria with painful urination, promotes urination and primarily treats stone stranguria (Shilin). It clears accumulated cold and heat in the stomach, benefits essence and qi, opens the nine orifices and six fu organs, generates body fluids, removes stagnation, eliminates water retention, stops diarrhea and dysentery, relieves irritability and restlessness, abdominal distension, pain, and oppression, tonifies the five zang organs, greatly nourishes the qi of the spleen and kidneys, regulates internal injury with impotence, calms the soul and stabilizes the spirit, treats five labors and seven injuries, and all kinds of deficiency damage. It primarily treats epilepsy, palpitations due to fright, and forgetfulness; stops fullness and shortness of breath; treats cough from organ injury; addresses inability to eat; muscle pain; mouth ulcers; and dental caries (Gan shi). It brightens the eyes and ears, strengthens sinews and bones, unblocks meridians, harmonizes blood and qi, digests food and drink, preserves primordial truth, resolves toxicities from various medicines, wine, and food, enables endurance of labor, hunger, thirst, cold, and heat, avoids injury from external and internal pathogenic factors, and with long-term use strengthens willpower, lightens the body, rejuvenates the complexion, and prolongs life. It also resolves heatstroke, cold damage (Shanghan), epidemics, damage from overeating or starvation, worry, thinking, anger, fear, and contagious diseases, as well as residual heat after sweating and all diseases of dual-pathogen cold damage (Lianggan Shanghan). It can cause stagnation throughout the body to be dispersed and unblocked, harmony of qi to restore health, and assists women in lactation induction, parturition, postpartum blood loss, severe heat from blood deficiency and yin deficiency, all heat syndromes, and also mastitis (Chui nai) and breast abscess (Ruyong). It is a miraculous and effective medicine. However, for pregnant women...
Guizhi Tang (Cinnamon Twig Decoction) ingredients: Guifu Nibai Huashi (Six taels), Gancao (one tael, roasted). Grind into powder. Take three qian per dose, mix with a little honey and warm water, and swallow. [Note: The text here seems fragmented, referring to resolving cold damage...] For efficacy, when sweating occurs, it mostly heals. Combined with scallion... Three... Or... It is the most excellent medicine for inducing sweating. Only use it when sweating is indicated; taking it mistakenly will increase heat. It is named Da Bi Du San (Great Forced Poison Expelling Powder). If used for dual-pathogen cold damage, additionally decoct Liangge San (Cooling the Chest Powder) and take Yi Yuan San (Benefit Origin Powder) mixed with four qian. For lactation induction, take with pork and noodle soup, or wine, four qian per dose, at any time, three times a day. It is suitable to consume meat and noodle soup/congee. For parturition induction, take three qian mixed with warm oil water, two or three doses, until delivery. If the dead fetus does not descend, decoct one dose of Sanyi Chengqi Tang (Three-One Descending Qi Decoction), mix with five qian, and take frequently with warm oil water shortly after. Both anterior and posterior expulsion of the fetus can save the mother. All difficult labor or retained dead fetuses are due to wind-heat causing dryness and astringency, tight contraction and stagnation, unable to relax, thus the birth canal cannot open naturally. When the medicinal power arrives, the heat and stagnation suddenly open, and delivery occurs. Do not use warming and tonifying methods, which would instead generate dryness and heat. Common people do not know that postpartum daily blood loss, pain, terror, and fear lead to mental madness and qi chaos, damaging yin qi and making it deficient, with excessive pathogenic heat causing various symptoms. Because they do not understand the creation of Suwen (Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon), they fail to recognize the yin and yang of symptoms, mistakenly believing that postpartum deficiencies are purely cold without heat, and erroneously using hot medicines to warm and tonify. Or seeing severe thirst, they do not allow drinking water. Although this stems from good intentions, it causes much harm. How could they know that the way of treating disease requires examining the zang-fu organs, the excess or deficiency of the six qi, clarifying the root and branch, and treating according to the method. This is the norm for this medicine. Although heavy use has great effect, common people think different diseases should have different medicines, considering this reckless behavior, inviting contempt. Now, if Huangdan (Lead Monoxide) is added to make it peach-red, it is named Hongyu San (Red Jade Powder). If Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis) is added to make it light blue, it is named Biyu San (Jasper Powder). If Bohe Ye Mo (Mint Leaf Powder) is added and ground together, it is named Jisu San (Chicken Mint Powder). The indications are the same, but this is done to avoid the reckless contempt of ignorant commoners.
