Treats gastrointestinal weakness. Invasion of wind-dampness. Diarrhea with undigested food and water. Dysentery with pus and blood. Stabbing pain, tenesmus, day and night without limit,
as well as pure white dysentery, pale red dysentery, black dysentery.

Arecae Semina (Areca Nut, one tael divided into five doses)
Carefully distinguish between
wind-cold syndromes, which are significantly different from gu dysentery. Additionally, there are blood hemorrhoids, blood depletion with epistaxis, alcohol-induced diarrhea, lung abscess, massive accumulation of stagnant blood in the intestines and stomach, etc., each classified separately, not to be mixed. For cold accumulation, heat accumulation, and damp-heat excess causing dysentery, administer Dahuang Tang (Rhubarb Decoction); the Yangsheng Fang also states to purge and cleanse, considering differences in cold, heat, wind, dampness, deficiency, and excess. If used arbitrarily, harm will be great; alas, it is lamentable. One formula contains Ganjiang (Dried Ginger) but lacks Suasharen (Cardamom) and Houpo (Magnolia Bark).
Baizhu Tiaozhong Wan (Regulate Middle Pill with Atractylodes, from Ruizhutang)
Treats disharmony of spleen and stomach, hardness and痞 (fullness/blockage) below the heart, distension and fullness of both hypochondria, pain in the navel and abdomen, belching of stale rotten qi, cholera with vomiting and diarrhea, indigestion of rice and grain,

Two taels) The above are ground into powder, formed into pills with wheat paste,
Jiawei Liujunzi Tang (Modified Six Gentlemen Decoction, from Deshengtang)
Treats all symptoms of spleen-stomach deficiency-heat diarrhea, and after typhoid fever, indigestion of rice and grain, intestinal deficiency slipperiness causing thirst and slight pain, not healing for a long time,
and treats pediatric spleen malnutrition, diarrhea, and contracting dysentery.
Ginseng Radix Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma Poria Dioscoreae Rhizoma Amomi Fructus Rotundus (Each one tael) Add Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex (Seven qian half) Myristicae Semen (Flour-roasted, one qian half) The above are ground into powder, take two qian per dose, mix with water to swallow, at any time. Pediatric kidney diarrhea, discharging white pus and brown fluid, dark complexion, loose teeth, fear of people and aversion to cold. Mix Zhenling Dan powder with Zizhongru Fen (Calcareous Concretion powder), mix with hot juice from fried jujube and fried Psoralea Fructus (Buguzhi) to swallow.
Weifeng Tang (Stomach Wind Decoction, from Zhizhi Fang)
Treats adults and children where wind-cold invades the spleen and stomach due to deficiency. Wind scatters qi, causing blood to flow into the large intestine, resulting in frequent passage of bright red blood, undigested food and water, pouring diarrhea, intestinal and gastric damp-toxin, discharge resembling bean curd dregs, empty fullness in abdomen and hypochondria, borborygmus, or passage of stagnant blood day and night without limit. Navel and abdominal
pain, intestinal wind bleeding, women with excessive uterine bleeding, sallow complexion, fatigue and weakness. Taking this can nourish, but its sweetness may damage grain qi.
Ginseng Radix Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma Poria Angelicae Sinensis Radix Paeoniae Radix Alba Cinnamomi Ramulus Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Each two liang) Saposhnikoviae Radix (Half liang) Sift evenly, take three qian per dose,
in a large cup,
with over hundred grains of aged millet, decoct until seven parts remain, remove dregs and drink hot. Children take according to capacity. Nowadays, many use this to treat dysentery and stop diarrhea,
but it is suitable for blood dysentery with spleen-stomach deficiency. Both malaria and dysentery arise from spleen deficiency with phlegm, external invasion of wind and summer-heat, causing struggle between yin and yang, alternating chills and fever, named malaria. If spleen and stomach are deficient and receive accumulation, internally harboring wind and summer-heat, causing organ dysfunction, mixed red and white discharge, frequent defecation. Although external symptoms of dysentery and malaria differ, know that both can damage qi and blood. To treat malaria, first differentiate yin and yang, then apply treatment methods. To treat dysentery, first remove accumulation, then apply regulation and stopping methods. Thus, phlegm is the root of malaria, accumulation is the source of dysentery. Treatment essentials lie here. One formula has Licorice but no Saposhnikovia, called Yijian Jiawei Weifeng Tang. Also says, if adding Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Prepared Rehmannia Root) and Scutellariae Radix (Scutellaria Root) in equal parts, named Shibu Tang (Ten Supplements Decoction). For deficiency consumption cough, add Schisandrae Fructus (Schisandra Berry). If phlegm, add Pinelliae Rhizoma (Pinellia Tuber). If fever, add Bupleuri Radix (Bupleurum Root). If sweating, add Ostreae Concha (Oyster Shell) and Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata (Prepared Aconite Root). If severe cold, add Zingiberis Rhizoma (Dried Ginger), all based on equal parts of the original formula. If bone-steaming fever with normal diet, use Shibu Tang plus
If short of breath, add Ginseng Radix. If difficult urination, add Poria. If wiry and choppy pulse, add Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma. If aversion to cold, add Guigui (Official Cinnamon Bark). If choppy pulse, add Angelicae Sinensis Radix.
If abdominal pain, add Paeoniae Radix Alba. If stomach heat-dampness, add Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma. Jiegu said: Scutellariae Radix and Saposhnikoviae Radix are upper guides; Coptidis Rhizoma (Coptis Rhizome) is middle guide.
For dark clotted blood, it is old blood, add Rehmanniae Radix Preparata. For bright red fresh blood, it is new blood, add Rehmanniae Radix (Fresh Rehmannia Root). For chills and fever, add Bupleuri Radix. For muscle heat, add Corni Fructus (Dogwood Fruit - *Note: Text likely implies Corni Fructus or similar, but text says Digupi which is usually Corni, however Digupi is often associated with clearing heat from bones, possibly referring to Corni or another herb, sticking to literal Digupi* -> Corni Fructus is usually Shan Zhu Yu, Digupi is often confused or refers to specific varieties, standard WHO term for Digupi is Corni Fructus or sometimes Lycii Cortex (Goji Bark) depending on context, but "Di Gu Pi" is Goji Bark. Let's use Lycii Cortex). If wiry and excess pulse with severe pain, add Rhubarb soaked in wine. One formula lacks Saposhnikovia.
