Hematemesis (vomiting blood) during pregnancy is caused by injury to the Zang-Fu organs. Worry, excessive thinking, fright, and anger all damage the Zang-Fu organs, leading to rebellious Qi and causing hematemesis. If hematemesis is accompanied by chest oppression and fullness that does not stop, severe chest oppression indicates a fatal prognosis. Pregnancy complicated by this condition often results in miscarriage.
It is also said that nursing care for pregnant women is difficult. Exposure to wind-cold, consumption of raw and cold foods, and excesses in emotions (anger/joy) or physical labor can all cause fetal movement instability. When fetal movement occurs, Qi and Blood lose their normal regulation, resulting in vaginal bleeding. Furthermore, if the mother has pre-existing chronic diseases, and the uterus is invaded by wind-cold pathogens, it will also lead to fetal movement and vaginal bleeding. These are all caused by improper nursing care.
Additionally, sudden heavy vaginal bleeding during pregnancy, sometimes with lower abdominal pain, is due to the internal conflict of cold and heat pathogens attacking the uterine collaterals, or sudden injury to the Chong and Ren meridians from heavy lifting and overexertion. The blood flows down suddenly; treatment should nourish the meridians according to their needs. If bleeding continues with lumbar and abdominal pain, the fetus will likely be aborted.
Also, if a pregnant woman falls or drops from a height, damaging the uterine collaterals, blood flows down disturbing the fetus. If blood loss causes Qi rebellion, the fetus may ascend with the rebellious Qi towards the heart, which is a critical sign for determining survival. If the mother's tongue is cyanotic, the fetus is dead but the mother lives. If the lips and mouth have no foam, the fetus can be born. If the lips are cyanotic and foam appears, both mother and fetus die. If the lips and mouth are cyanotic but the tongue is red, the mother dies but the fetus lives. If bleeding does not stop, the uterus becomes dry and the fetus withers, leading to fetal death.
Regarding hematuria (blood in urine) during pregnancy, it is caused by heat generated from meridian injury due to overwork. Heat invades the blood; when blood is heated, it flows excessively and渗 into the bladder, causing hematuria.
