Leukorrhea encompasses thirty-six types. Although the colors differ, the etiology is singular: all stem from excessive labor and injury, damaging the menstrual blood, leading to a deficient constitution susceptible to wind-cold pathogens.
The Hand-Taiyang (Small Intestine) meridian connects with the Foot-Taiyin (Spleen) meridian. In women, it transforms upwards into milk and downwards into menstruation. Therefore, wind-pathogens enter the uterus (Bao Gong) via deficiency, damaging the meridians. Cold predominance results in white discharge; heat predominance results in red discharge. This disease arises from damage by wind, cold, and heat pathogens, or from rising early postpartum without avoiding wind-pathogens, allowing wind-qi to enter the uterine gate. Alternatively, pathogenic factors may affect the meridians and transmit to the zang-fu organs, causing varying conditions.
In women at rest, blood should be abundant while qi should be relatively scarce, ensuring the dominance of original qi and preventing myriad diseases. If qi exceeds blood, excess qi generates cold; over time, the body becomes emaciated and weak.
For women suffering from red and white leukorrhea, or discharging white substances resembling fat, Daoshui Wan (Water-Guiding Pill), Yugong San (Yu-Gong Powder), or Wuyou San (Wu-You Powder) alone may be taken. Dosages should be adjusted according to deficiency or excess. After purgation, the condition resolves.
