Injuries caused by metal blades affecting the sinews and bones are deeply damaging. However, even if bones are fractured and sinews severed, they can be reconnected. The key lies in applying treatment urgently while the vital qi and blood have not yet cooled. If treatment is not applied while warm, wind-cold pathogens may easily invade. Even if the wound temporarily heals, it will inevitably lead to numbness later on, causing pain and irritability, resulting in lifelong disability. As for small fragmented bones, they should be removed; otherwise, pus and blood will flow incessantly, and the flesh will fail to heal.
At the initial stage of a metal injury, if the sinews are partially damaged, causing the obstruction of Ying (Nutritive) and Wei (Defensive) qi circulation, the wound will be difficult to heal, leading to subsequent numbness. If the trunk, elbows, wrists, knees, thighs, or ankles are severed, they can also be reconnected. This must be done urgently while the area is still warm. If the vital qi and blood cool down and fragmented bones are not removed, it causes pain, irritability, and continuous pus discharge.
