The conditions of Huoluan (acute gastrointestinal disorder with vomiting and diarrhea), Ouyue (vomiting and hiccups), are caused by the disharmony of Yin and Yang, cold and heat, leading to the interference of clear and turbid Qi, stomach Qi disharmony, and the addition of wind-cold pathogenic factors, thus causing vomiting. If vomiting persists, it will progress to hiccups (Yue).
Formulas:
Renshen Huoxiang San (Ginseng and Agastache Powder) [Source: *Yuyao Yuan Fang*] is used to treat Huoluan, stabilize vomiting and rebellious Qi, stop stabbing pain in the heart and abdomen, promote appetite, resolve phlegm, and benefit Qi. It treats all these symptoms.
Ingredients: Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Baifuling (Poria), Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens Praeparatum), Pipaye (Eriobotryae Folium), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma Praeparatum cum Zingibere et Alumine), each 1 liang.
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder.
Lizhong San (Regulate the Middle Powder) [Source: *Qianjin Fang*] is used to treat elderly and frail individuals suffering from nausea due to cold Qi, indigestion, acute pain in the heart and abdomen, shortness of breath, and vomiting/rebellious Qi associated with Huoluan, as well as cold limbs (Sijue).
Ingredients: Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens Praeparatum), each 6 liang; Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), each 5 liang; Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata), Fuling (Poria), each 3 liang.
Crush and sieve the above ingredients. Decoct with water and take.
Danggui Tang (Angelica Decoction) [Source: *Shengji Zonglu*] is used to treat vomiting and hiccups due to Huoluan, and cold hands and feet.
Ingredients: Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Gui (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Wuzhuyu (Evodiae Fructus), each 2 liang (soaked in water, dried, and stir-fried); Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Mutong (Akebiae Caulis), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma).
Decoct with water, remove dregs, and take warm.
Chi Tang (Soja Preparata Decoction) treats vomiting and hiccups due to Huoluan, where Qi rebellion prevents breathing.
Ingredients: Chi (Soja Preparata), 1 sheng; Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), half liang (washed); Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), 2 liang; Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), 1 liang; Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), 2 liang; Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), 1 liang (roasted).
Decoct the above ingredients with water.
Huoxiang Tuye San (Agastache Emetic Powder) treats adults and children with various types of vomiting, rebellious Qi, vomiting and diarrhea, or restlessness due to Huoluan.
Ingredients: Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos), 1 qian; Guifu Huashi (Kaolin from Guilin), 4 liang (calcined); Huoxiang (Agastaches Pallidae Herba), 4 qian.
Grind the above ingredients into an extremely fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose for adults, half a qian for children, taken with cool rice water.
Jupi Tang (Tangerine Peel Decoction) [Source: *Shengji Zonglu*] treats Huoluan with persistent vomiting and hiccups.
Ingredients: Chenjupi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), 2 liang (soaked in water, white pith removed, dried); Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), 1 liang (roasted); Pipaye (Eriobotryae Folium), 2 liang (brushed clean of hairs, roasted).
Crush and sieve the above ingredients. Take 3 qian per dose, decocted with water.
Banxia Tang (Pinellia Decoction) [Source: *Shengji Zonglu*] treats Qi rebellion due to Huoluan, where vomiting and hiccups cause difficulty in breathing.
Ingredients: Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), 2 liang (soaked in water seven times, then dried); Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (roasted); Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma); Qianhu (Peucedani Radix); Gui (Cinnamomi Ramulus), each 1 liang (rough bark removed).
Crush and sieve the above ingredients. Take appropriate amount, decocted with water.
Zhishi Tang (Immature Bitter Orange Decoction) [Source: *Shengji Zonglu*] treats sudden hiccups due to Huoluan.
Use Zhishi (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus), remove the pulp, stir-fry with bran, 2 liang. Crush and sieve. Take 3 qian per dose, decocted with one zhan of sheep milk and a piece of sheep fat (size of a bullet), reduce to 70%, remove dregs, and take hot.
Su Fangmu Yin (Sappan Wood Drink) [Source: *Bencao*] treats vomiting and rebellious Qi due to Huoluan, and frequent vomiting in people.
Use Su Fangmu (Sappan Lignum), decoct with water and take. For breaking blood stasis, decocting with wine is better.
Nuomifen Yin (Glutinous Rice Flour Drink) [Source: *Shengji Zonglu*] treats sudden hiccups due to Huoluan.
Use Nuomifen (Oryza Sativa Var. Glutinosa Farina), 1 sheng. Take 3 qian per dose, mixed with well water. Time is not restricted.
Shengjiang Yin (Fresh Ginger Drink) [Source: *Shengji Zonglu*] treats vomiting and hiccups due to Huoluan.
Use Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), 2 liang, sliced. Decoct with three zhan of water until one and a half zhan remains. Remove dregs, divide into three warm doses. Time is not restricted.
Putao Gen Zhi (Vitis Root Juice) [Source: *Bencao*] treats nausea after Huoluan.
Boil Putao Gen (Vitisis Radix et Caulis) thickly to extract juice and drink.
Yezi Pi Zhi (Coconut Husk Juice) [Source: *Bencao*] treats vomiting/rebellious Qi and Huoluan.
Boil Yezi Pi (Cocos Nucifera Pericarpium) to extract juice and take.
