The *Neijing* (Yellow Emperor's Inner Classic) states: The Kidney is a Yang organ (Muzang). Because the Kidney governs water metabolism. If a person exerts themselves vigorously and works to exhaustion, sweat originates from the Kidney (Kidney sweat). After sweating, if one contracts wind pathogen, the pathogen cannot enter the Zang-Fu organs internally, nor can it diffuse through the skin externally. It lodges in the Xuanfu (sweat pores), circulates within the subcutaneous tissue, and transmits to the limbs. The disease originates in the Kidney and is named Fengshui (Wind Water). The pulse is naturally floating. The external manifestations include pain in the bone joints and aversion to wind; the body swells as if wrapped in water; the neck pulse throbs accompanied by coughing; and pressing the swelling leaves an indentation that does not immediately rebound. This is the condition described.
According to the formulas in the *Jinkui Yaolue*:
