The disease of Wind-Xuan (vertigo/dizziness) originates from the instability of Heart Qi. Accumulation of excess pathogenic factors in the upper chest leads to symptoms such as facial heat when exposed to wind. Phlegm-heat interact to stir up internal Wind, and Wind confounds the Heart Spirit, resulting in mental confusion and impaired judgment. Urgent treatment is required; other methods are listed below:
Fushen Tang (Cordyceps Fungus Decoction, from *Qianjin Fang*)
Treats Wind-Xuan. Manifestations include vertigo with a sensation of the house rotating, vomiting and regurgitation, and aversion to hearing human voices.
Ingredients: Fushen (Sclerotium of Poria), Duhuo (Radix Angelicae Pubescentis) (4 liang each), Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae), Yuanzhi (Radix Polygalae), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae) (5 liang each), Shengjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens) (3 liang), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Muli (Concha Ostreae), Yejiaoteng (Caulis Polygoni Multiflori), etc. (Note: The original text is fragmented here, listing only partial herb names and dosage fragments.)
Xuming Tang (Continuation of Life Decoction, from *Qianjin Fang*)
Treats Wind-Xuan. Upon onset, there is irritability, loss of consciousness, foaming at the mouth, tetanic convulsions of the four limbs (opisthotonos), eyes tightly closed, and inability to speak.
Ingredients: Zhuli (Bamboo Juice) (1 sheng 2 he), Sheng Dihuang Zhi (Juice of Rehmanniae Radix Recens) (1 sheng), Longchi (Dens Ossis Mastodi), Shengjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae), Mahuang (Herba Ephedrae) (4 liang each), Fangji (Radix Stephaniae Tetrandrae) (3 liang), Fuzi (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata), etc. (Note: The original text mentions "add Fuzi for Qi deficiency" or using Shi Jue Ming as the main ingredient, but the expression is concise.)
Duhuo San (Duhuo Powder, also known as Duhuo Baizhu San, from *Shengji Zonglu*)
Treats Wind-Xuan with Jue-Ni (syncope/cold extremities). Symptoms include body pain, immobility of all joints, vertigo, mental restlessness, and difficulty turning over.
Ingredients: Duhuo (Radix Angelicae Pubescentis) (4 liang), Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae) (6 fen), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae) (8 fen), Xixin (Herba Asari), Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Ganjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Secati) (4 fen each), Shutuxiong (Rhizoma Aconiti Kusnezoffii), Guixin (Cortex Cinnamomi), etc. (Note: The original text is fragmented; characters like "rou, leng" may refer to processing or characteristics.)
Shaoyao Tang (Peony Decoction, from *Shengji Zonglu*)
Treats Wind-Xuan with fainting. Sensation of the house spinning and overturning, headache.
Ingredients: Shaoyao (Radix Paeoniae Alba/Lactiflorae), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae) (deveined), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) (crushed), Mutong (Caulis Akebiae) (1 liang each), Gegen (Radix Puerariae) (0.5 liang), Gan Juhua (Flos Chrysanthemi Indici) (selected, 0.5 liang), Mahuang (Herba Ephedrae), etc. (Note: The original text is fragmented, e.g., "Shengjiang san cao".)
When Qi and Blood are extremely deficient, Wind-Evil takes advantage of this weakness. The internal and external mechanisms fail to communicate and discharge pathogens, resulting in the disease called Fei (paralysis/aphasia). The manifestation of Wind-Fei is: the body does not feel pain, and the four limbs cannot be controlled or held.
(The middle paragraphs of the original text are broken, involving concepts like Shen-Zhi, rising, and Wind chambers, but the meaning is incomplete. Thus, these parts are omitted to preserve accuracy, retaining only the core definition.)
