Although rice is but one ingredient, there are many ways to prepare congee. The color and taste rarely offer novelty, yet one never tires of consuming it. One must remember to fetch pure, sweet water from afar, and carefully distinguish the essence of millet.
Shanyao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma) Suhuang (Yellow Millet) Shushu (Sorghum) Hongjing (Red Glutinous Rice) Bainuo (White Glutinous Rice) Xinren (Xin Ren - likely a specific grain/seed mentioned in original) Congbai (Scallion White) Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger) Banmian (Mixed Flour) Caiji (Chopped Pickled Vegetables) All of the above can be used to make congee. Thus, hundred types of millet can all be used to treat illness via congee.
