The *Huangdi Neijing* (Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon) states that contracting wind pathogen immediately after washing one's hair is termed "Shou Feng" (First Wind). The manifestations of Shou Feng include excessive sweating on the head and face, and aversion to wind. Typically, the condition worsens one day before the wind arises, presenting with headache and a sensation as if something heavy is pressing down on the head.
Generally, what people refer to as "Lei Tou Feng" (Thunder Head Wind) or "Dian Gan" are erroneous folk names. These conditions manifest as headache and dizziness, caused by contracting wind after bathing the hair; essentially, this is Shou Feng. This occurs because the wind pathogen remains in the head.
For any case of head wind causing vertigo, numbness of the hands and feet, epigastric pain, and fullness and stifling sensation in the heart and abdomen, where water sounds can be heard upon palpation, Dusheng San (Single Sage Powder) can be used to induce vomiting. After vomiting, Qing... (the text breaks here).
The so-called "Da Tou Feng" (Big Head Wind) is formed due to excessive heat pathogen in the Yangming channel, which fuels the ministerial fire of the Shaoyang channel. The pathology is mostly located in the Shaoyang channel, but may also involve the Yangming or Taiyang channels.
