Treats all wind-related disorders.
Chuanxiong Rhizoma (4 liang) Fangfeng Radix Saposhnikoviae (remove the woody core, 1.5 liang) Tianma Gastrodiae Rhizoma (remove the rhizome head, 1 liang) Gancao Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata (1 liang, honey-fried) Xixin Herba Asari (remove leaves, 3.5 qian) Bibo Fructus Piperis Longi (0.5 liang)
Grind the above herbs into a fine powder, mix with refined honey and pound until uniform. Each liang of powder makes ten pills. Take one pill per dose, chew thoroughly, and swallow with Jingjie Decoction or warm wine. It is suitable for common mild wind-cold attacks, headache, nasal congestion, neck stiffness, and muscle spasms. This is a household remedy I frequently prepare, suitable for both the elderly and children.
The condition known as "Qi Zhong" (disorder due to emotional qi stagnation) is not explicitly recorded in medical texts, yet excessive joy damages Yang Qi, excessive anger damages Yin Blood, and worry or unexpected events cause Qi rebellion. People often suffer from this disease, experiencing salivary flooding, unconsciousness, and lockjaw. If treated generally as Stroke (Zhong Feng), the medication is often inappropriate and may lead to death. In the Gengwu year of the Yuan era, my mother suffered this tragedy, a regret I still hold today. My mother usually ate vegetarian food and had weak Qi and Blood. Due to the grief over my father's death, she suddenly experienced Qi Jue (syncope due to qi rebellion), with lockjaw and salivary flooding. A local physician diagnosed it as Stroke and administered three pills of Datong Wan, causing severe diarrhea several times. She passed away that night. I deeply regret this. Whenever I encounter such symptoms, I urgently dissolve four or five pills of Suhexiang Wan and administer them orally; the patient regains consciousness immediately. Subsequently, treatment is adjusted according to deficiency/excess and cold/heat patterns, resulting in complete recovery. The Classics state: "Unexplained aphonia with absent pulse indicates sudden Qi rebellion; once Qi recovers, the condition resolves." If this is indeed the case, self-healing can occur even without medication.
Treats Chuan Shi (consumption/tuberculosis caused by parasitic worms), Gu Zheng (bone-steaming fever), Fei Wei (lung atrophy), Zhu Wu (infectious diseases from external pathogens), Gui Qi (ghostly qi), sudden heart pain, Huoluan (cholera-like vomiting and diarrhea), Shi Qi (epidemic febrile diseases), Gui Mei (spiritual interference), Zhang Nue (miasmic malaria), Chi Bai Li Ji (dysentery with red and white discharge), Yu Xue Yue Bi (amenorrhea due to blood stasis), Ji Ju Pi Zhong (accumulations, masses, and lower limb edema), Jing Xian (convulsions and epilepsy), Gui Wu Zhong Ren (spiritual invasion), Xiao Er Tu Ru (infant regurgitation), Da Ren Hu Huo (adult fox confusion disorder).
Suhexiang Resin (1 liang, added to Anxi Xiang paste) Baizhu Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae (2 liang) Dingxiang Flos Caryophylli (2 liang) Zhusha Cinnabaris (ground and floated in water, 2 liang) Muxiang Radix Aucklandiae (2 liang) Baitan Sappan Lignum (shredded, 2 liang) Xunlu Xiang Olibanum (separately ground, 2 liang) Chenxiang Aquilariae Lignum (2 liang) Wuxi Cornu Rhinocerotis (shaved into flakes, 2 liang) Bibo Fructus Piperis Longi (2 liang) Anxi Xiang Resina Styracis (2 liang, separately ground into powder, boiled with 1 jin of pure wine into a paste) Xiangfu Rhizoma Cyperi (de-haired, 2 liang) Helile Fructus Terminaliae Chebulae (roasted, pitted, 2 liang) Longnao Borneolum Syntheticum
Grind the above herbs into a fine powder, mix uniformly with the ground medicines. Use Anxi Xiang paste and refined white honey to form the pill base. Roll into pills the size of Sophora seeds. In the morning, take four pills dissolved in Jinghua Water (first drawn well water in the morning), temperature arbitrary. Elderly and children may take one pill. Dissolving in warm wine is also acceptable. Take on an empty stomach. Wrap one pill in wax paper, the size of a marble, and carry it in a crimson silk bag over the heart; all evil spirits will dare not approach. (Remove Longnao to create Shexiang Suhexiang Wan, which treats all types of cold qi causing chest/throat obstruction, intestinal rumbling, and retention of fluids; indications are otherwise the same.)
Fan Zimo recorded two cases of Stroke during the Chongning era. Initially, there was facial paralysis (mouth and eye deviation), followed by salivary flooding and obstruction. Acupuncture/Moxibustion was applied to twelve acupoints on both sides to restore Qi flow. The twelve acupoints are Tinghui (GB2), Jiache (ST6), Dicang (ST4), Baihui (GV20), Jianliao (TE14), Quchi (LI11), Fengshi (GB31), Zusanli (ST36), Jiegu (GB39), Fazhi (GV18), Dazhui (GV14), and Fengchi (GB20). Following this protocol yields immediate efficacy.
