Alternating chills and fever with menstrual obstruction. The body is emaciated, and the pulse is choppy. This condition belongs to the consumption of blood, which is most difficult to treat.
Therapeutic method: Harmonize Qi and Blood.
The pulse is wiry and rapid. Congenital Yin deficiency causes Yang to move restlessly without submerging. Collateral rebellion leads to hemoptysis. It is appropriate to gather Yin and harmonize Yang.
Prescription: Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu - *Note: Substitute with Tapir Horn or Buffalo Horn in modern practice*), Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Yuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix), Sheng Di (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata), Chuan Hu (Dendrobii Caulis), Ou Zhi (Nelumbinis Rhizoma Sucus).
Yang depression causes aversion to cold; epigastric fullness and body pain occur.

Chronic cough with thick phlegm. This is due to latent dampness in the Stomach. However, the patient's form and spirit are haggard, and the pulse is faint; this is most difficult to treat.

The disposition is bold and straightforward; Liver Fire blazes, insulting Metal (Lung). Voice becomes low and gradually lost. This has persisted for a year. Moreover, the patient is sixty years old (Flower of Age); Lung Yin is daily consumed. Recovery is feared to be unlikely. It is essential to avoid roasted, fried, and rich flavors.
Prescription: Shang Qing Gao (Upper Clearing Paste).
The pulse is choppy. Menstruation arrives early. Epigastric pain radiates to the waist and thighs. Occasional chills and fever indicate pathology in both Wei and Ying levels. This is primarily due to insufficient Ying Blood.
Prescription: Lu Shuang (Deer Antler Frost), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Fu Ling (Poria), Qi Zi (Lycii Fructus), Zi Ying (Myrti Fructus), Hui Xiang (Foeniculi Fructus).
Occasional chills and fever, gradual reduction in food intake, skin sores and ulcers. This is latent summer-heat and dampness from midsummer. The pulse is fine. Epigastric pain worsens at night; vomited food is undigested. This indicates Kidney Yang damage, losing its function of dissemination and descending. As the saying goes, "pain implies obstruction." This results from irregular eating and overexertion. Based on the pulse, if prolonged, it may lead to Guan Ge (obstruction of upper and lower orifices) severe illness. Early planning is necessary.
