酒服探吐之。 脑 肝治瘰 野狼漏，《千金方》用之。但不可食其骨，令人瘦劣。
苦微温无毒。拣去白者，先用滚水洗净，入烊成罐，外用盐泥固济， ，候罐内外
通红，冷定，研末，置地去火毒用。

发明 发者，血之余，故能治血病。虽曰补真阴，疗惊痫，理咳嗽，固崩带止血晕，而
实消瘀生新，能去心窍恶血，并 过服。若 之不透反能动血。合鸡子黄香油煎之，消化为
水，则治小儿胎惊及涂癞疮有效。用入膏药中则长肉消瘀。《本经》治五癃关格不通，利小
便水道，皆取其利窍散瘀之功。其疗小儿惊、大人痉，以能达肝心二经，开通痰血之滞也。
仍自还神化者，言服自己之发则胜用他人之发也。但胃虚人勿用，以其能作呕泻也。乱发功
用与此不殊，而剃下者尤胜，取长之速也。小儿胎发 灰，大解胎毒而补先天血气，以纯阳
未离也。

(Snake Slough) Bitter, neutral in nature, non-toxic. Finely cut and stir-fried until black, or processed with butter/oil before use.
The *Shennong Bencao Jing* (Divine Farmer's Materia Medica) states it treats five types of hemorrhoids, erosion of the yin organs, continuous bleeding from the lower jiao, and swelling/pain in the yin organs radiating to the back and waist; boiling with wine neutralizes its toxicity.
Invention (Commentary): The snake is the animal correspondent of the Stomach. Therefore, snake meat is most effective for treating regurgitation (fanwei) and epigastric pain; snake skin removes nebulae (yi zhang) in the eyes. The *Shennong Bencao Jing* treats five types of hemorrhoids and yin erosion by utilizing its sharp, blood-breaking properties. Boiling with wine to treat yin swelling/pain radiating to the back utilizes the property that sinews/membranes can contract and relax. In Southern regions, for Golden Silkworm Gu poison, snake slough is powdered and taken with wine to induce vomiting.
(Snake Bone) Enters the Liver Meridian, treats scrofula (luoli) and wolf-like fistulas (yelang lou), as used in the *Qianjin Fang*. However, one must not consume its bones, as this causes emaciation and weakness.
(Hair/Talcum Carbonis Capilli) Bitter, slightly warm, non-toxic. Select hair free of white strands, wash thoroughly with boiling water, place in a crucible, seal externally with salt mud, [heat], until the inside and outside of the crucible are red-hot, allow to cool and solidify, grind into powder, and place on the ground to remove fire toxicity before use.
The *Shennong Bencao Jing* states it treats five types of strangury (long) and guan-ge obstruction, promotes urination through the water passages, treats pediatric convulsions (jing) and adult tetanus/spasms (jing), and possesses the quality of "returning to transform spirit" (reng zi huan shen hua).
Invention (Commentary): Hair is the surplus of Blood, thus it can treat blood diseases. Although it is said to tonify True Yin, treat convulsions and epilepsy, regulate cough, secure metrorrhagia and leukorrhea, and stop bleeding/dizziness, its actual function is to resolve stasis and generate new tissue, removing evil blood from the Heart orifices, and preventing excessive usage. If calcined insufficiently, it may instead move blood. Fried with egg yolk and sesame oil until liquefied, it effectively treats pediatric fetal convulsions and applies to leprosy sores. Used in plasters, it promotes flesh growth and resolves stasis. The *Shennong Bencao Jing* treats five types of strangury and guan-ge obstruction, promoting urination, all due to its ability to open orifices and dissipate stasis. Its treatment of pediatric convulsions and adult spasms works because it reaches the Liver and Heart meridians, opening stagnation of phlegm and blood. "Returning to transform spirit" means that consuming one's own hair is superior to consuming others' hair. However, those with Spleen/Stomach deficiency should avoid it, as it induces vomiting and diarrhea. Human hair (luanfa) has similar efficacy, but freshly shaved hair is even better, taking advantage of its rapid growth. Pediatric lanugo ash greatly resolves fetal toxins and tonifies congenital Qi and Blood, as the Pure Yang has not yet departed.
