If dust enters the eye, wiping it with a precious stone bead removes it immediately (*Bencao Gangmu*). [Names] (Li Shizhen states): Red ones are named Cizi; greenish-blue ones are named Dianzi; emerald-green ones are named Majiazhu; yellow ones are named Munanzhu; purple ones are named Lazhi. There are also Yahu Shi, Maojing Shi, Shiliuzi, and Hongbiandou. [Origin]: Produced in the pits and wells of Xifan Huihu regions; also found in Yunnan and Liaodong. (*Shanhaijing* states): Guo Mountain has much jade; Qi River flows from there westward into the sea, abundant in Caishi, which is Precious Stone. Greenish-blue stones were called Sese by Tang people; red ones were called [missing character] by Song people; now generally referred to as Baoshi, used for inlaying jewelry and vessels. (Zhang Bo's *Wu Lu* states): Bibe pearls are produced in Yuejun, Yunnan, and Hezhong, obtained only after sacrifices; varieties include Piao Bi, Lv Bi, and Shen Bi, which are greenish-blue precious stones. [Quality]: Large ones are finger-sized, small ones... Non-toxic.
Water Crystal (Shuijing): Primarily treats warming the eyes to eliminate hot tears (*Bencao Shiyi*); also used in eye drops. Swallowed while threaded, it can push out various foreign bodies causing choking (*Bencao Gangmu*). [Names]: Water Crystal, Shuiyu, Shuangying. (Li Shizhen states): Crystalline and transparent like the essence of water, named by meaning. (*Shanhaijing*) calls it Shuiyu; *Guangya* calls it Shuangying. [Origin]: Wa country produces the best Water Crystal. Southern Water Crystal is white; Northern Water Crystal is black; those from Xinzhou and Wuchang are turbid. [Quality]: Hard yet brittle, cannot be scratched by a knife. Color is clear as spring water, bright and lustrous; if placed in water without flaws it becomes invisible, such pearls are superior. Fire Pearl (Appendix to *Gangmu*) (Li Shizhen states): *Shuowen Jiezi* calls it Huoqi Zhu; *Han Shu* calls it Meigui (pronounced Mei Hui).
