Wushi Shizhi (Five-Color Stone Grease) treats jaundice, diarrhea and dysentery, pus and blood in the intestines, erosion of the yin region, bleeding from the lower orifices (red and white), pathogenic factors, carbuncles and swellings, ulcers, hemorrhoids, malignant sores, head sores, scabies, and pruritus. Long-term consumption replenishes marrow, benefits qi, makes the body robust, reduces hunger, lightens the body, and prolongs life. The five types of Wushi Shizhi correspond to the five colors to tonify the five zang organs respectively. [Shennong Bencao Jing records: Tujing states that Wushi Shizhi was formerly listed as one entry, all growing on the sunny slopes of valleys in the Southern Mountains, with identical therapeutic indications. Later authors separated them by origin; since their sources differ, their functions also vary. Usage should follow the subsequent entries. However, currently only red and white varieties are used, while the others are no longer recognized.]

Sugong stated that it is not heard of in Jinan or Mount Tai; it is found only in Lushi County of Guozhou, Lingchuan County of Zezhou, Lüxiang County of Cizhou, and also in the mountains of Yizhou. Currently, it comes from Luzhou, with those having fresh color and fine texture being superior. [Growth/Harvest Time] No specific time. [Selection Criteria] Those with fine texture are superior. [Texture] Similar to talc but soft and brittle. [Color] Red. [Taste] Sweet, sour, pungent. [Nature] Greatly warm, slow. [Qi-Taste Relationship] Stronger qi indicates yang. [Odor] Rotten. [Combination Therapy] Take one jin, crush and sieve, mix with wine, take one cun bi (approx. 5ml), gradually increasing to three cun bi. After consuming one jin to tonify the five zang organs, one will never vomit phlegm-water nor suffer dysentery for life, becoming robust. The root cause lies in excessive cold drink intake, leading to weak spleen and stomach qi, where food entering the stomach fails to digest, turning into cold water causing continuous vomiting. ○ Take one jin, half whole and half powdered; use Dried Ginger (Ganjiang) one liang, Rice (Jingmi) half sheng, water seven sheng. Boil until rice is cooked, strain, take seven he of decoction, add one cun bi of Shizhi powder, three times daily. Treats persistent dysentery with pus and blood due to cold damage. ○ Combine Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata (Wutou) one part, Aconiti Radix Praeparata (Fuzi) two parts (both prepared), Chishishi Shizhi, Dried Ginger (Ganjiang), and Zanthoxyli Pericarpium (Shujiao) each four parts. Grind into powder, make pills with honey size of paulownia seeds. Take one pill before meals. Treats heart pain radiating to the back. ○ Combine Dried Ginger (Ganjiang) one liang, Piperis Fructus (Hujiao) half liang, grind into powder, make pills with vinegar paste size of paulownia seeds. Take fifty to seventy pills on an empty stomach with rice drink. Treats large intestine cold and slipping, seminal emission. ○ Powder mixed with porridge or drink, taken as half qian. Treats pediatric gan syndrome diarrhea; adding Xiongjue (Jingxiong) in equal parts yields excellent results.
